That's interesting to read, but Paul doesn't come across too well. He's got to be offered his own induction before he would induct John in.
I doesn't really ring true either though. He doesn't respect Jan or the Hall enough to bother inducting John, yet he'll do it for his own induction. If he doesn't respect the Hall, why would he care?
Also later, he was able to get Ringo in just by promising to show up. Wenner must had decided Paul's presence was worth letting Ringo in when only a few years earlier, it was only barely worth enough to let Paul in.

The writer of this piece is controversial. He has been wrong before but thanks sayne for posting it!
I have never read before about Wenner's alleged promise to Paul that if he inducted John then Paul would get it the next year. I always thought Paul voluntarily did it to honor his dead friend.
I have read that Wenner helped delay Paul's Solo induction for years because of Paul's snub of the Beatles induction in 1988 when the RRHF was still pretty new and it wasn't a sure thing to become the tourist draw that it is(some say tourist trap).
I am a firm believer that all four Beatles easily deserved Solo inductions into the RRHF and it is a shame John wasn't alive when he was inducted but we can't blame that on Wenner but it was a crime against humanity that George Harrison was inducted only after his death. ATMP and Bangladesh alone earned George that not to mention several other great Solo albums and work he did with others like the Wilburys.
Paul screwed up not going to The Beatles induction and it was because of Beatles litigation but Paul should have been used to that! Paul got screwed in that delay to his Solo induction but I wish he would have risen above Wenner's pettiness and not gotten into that whole "Crazy Stella" tee-shirt thing. That's what rednecks do.
Every artist will ultimately get into the RRHF, even the Monkees, so it really doesn't matter and it is silly if Paul and Linda got bent out of shape by it. I am more bent out of shape about it than George Harrison was about his own Solo induction.
