Wow! Way too young. David wasn't much older than me.
I used to cut my own hair back around the time the Partridge Family was on. I'd try real hard to get David's look. I always fell short. It'd end up looking more like Paul's Red Rose Speedway hair.
David was a hero. Sorry to hear he has left us.

Deepest sympathies to David's family. So sorry John. Nearly a year ago, it was George Michael and now David. 😟

Deepest sympathies to David's family. So sorry John. Nearly a year ago, it was George Michael and now David. 😟 Thanks Sally! I know you were a fan too as is OldFred, Debjorgo and a couple others her. I have been playing a lot of Partridge Family and David Solo music this past week and it takes me back to my early childhood which even The Beatles can't because I was already 12 when I discovered the Fabs but I took with David the moment of "I Think I Love You."

Another bright light from our youth has left us.. …..This is so sad. I think we all grew up watching his show (*Partridge Family*).….RIP, David.... ....Now you’re in a place where you can really *c’mon, get happy*…. Thanks for the music & memories…Prayers to your family and your extended family (Shirley Jones, Danny Bonaduce and other cast members) who are really hurting tonight.... So sorry for the sad news JSD.... I'm not that far from you, from being a big fan of his....

David's cover of the Beatles' Please Please Me I really like David's cover of "Please Please Me!" He captures the joy and excitement of that song.

Very sad news. I was hoping he'd get better, but I'm glad that he hung on a day and didn't die the same day as evil Charles Manson. Not sure why it makes a diff to me, but it does! Saw him right after 9/11, when everyone's patriotism was burning bright, and he announced that he was going to sing the National Anthem. He nailed it, and it was very beautiful and moving. Hope he's at peace now.

A touching tribute from Shaun Cassidy to his older half-brother: "When I was a little boy and my big brother would come to visit, the first call of business would be a punishing pillow fight. During the battle, he would regale me with hysterical stories of our father, often culminating in his taking a giant leap off my top bunk. I tried to catch him of course. I always tried to catch him. But I never could. Now, I will carry him, along with all of the funny/sad/extraordinary days we shared, none more filled with love than these last few at his side." A beautiful tribute from step-mom Shirley Jones: "Long before he played my son on The Partridge Family, David Cassidy was my stepson in real life. As a little boy, his sweet sensitivity and wicked sense of humor were already on display, and I will treasure the years we spent working and growing together. I will also find solace knowing that David is now with his dad. "My heart is with David’s daughter, Katie, his son, Beau, and with Shaun, Patrick, and Ryan, whom I know are deeply missing their brother today. Thank you for the enormous outpouring of affection you have offered our family at this difficult time." Shirley Jones www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/cel...ocid=spartandhp

Here is a short article giving some anecdotes about David Cassidy and certain Beatles: beatleshistorian.com/?p=55Say, this article claims the 1976 WOA Tour was delayed because Jimmy McCulloch was wrestling with David at a Texas rehearsal and broke his wrist!! I knew about Jimmy breaking his wrist but never knew of David's involvement. I am very disappointed that there have been no statements from Paul or Ringo on David's death! Actually I am pissed off about it! Arrogant bastards! If I am wrong please post the Paul or Ringo comments.

Arrogant bastards is a little strong isn't it? They don't have any real connections to David beyond a shared profession.

Perhaps. I was just annoyed that maybe David wasn't A-list enough for them. What was Paul's connection to Prince....nada.

Accordingly John Lennon was the only Beatle with any connection to Cassidy, David considered John a mentor to him.
