Accordingly John Lennon was the only Beatle with any connection to Cassidy, David considered John a mentor to him. I agree Fred. And we know David met Ringo from the picture above. Alice Cooper says in a filmed interview that David hung out with Alice, John, Harry, Ringo and Micky Dolenz in L.A. in 1974/1975. David is clearly not cool enough for Yoko to remember.

Maybe the heroin affected her memory? Just a thought...

Any one here still struggling with David Cassidy's death? I was thinking of starting like a "Support" Thread although what we need is real time messaging. Between David and Tom Petty it has been rough.

Between David and Tom Petty it has been rough. I am doing ok. Although struggling with sadness is a normal part of any grieving process, I don't think David would want us to be sad all the time. Correct me if I am wrong but I think they did not acknowledge David's passing last night on the Grammy awards. š£

That would be outrageous but maybe not surprising from that bullshit, elitist organization that is so out of touch with regular music listeners. The ratings were way down as the Grammies were mired in the phony political protest of celebrities, the dumbest and often the most amoral people on Earth!

Good news, David's passing was acknowledged at the Grammy's. An article I read didn't mention it and that's why I didn't think that it happened. I wasn't watching.

That is not surprising but compounds the tragedy. No peace from his alcoholism disease even at the end.

IMO, David had probably the most genuine goods to deliver when he was (suddenly) cast into the position of overnight fame in 1970 --- because, UNlike Bobby Sherman/Davy Jones/so-on: HE was at the right age of 20 (vs., say, Michael Jackson/Osmonds/Jack Wild still being "kids") TO REFLECT HAVING GROWN-UP IN THE SIXTIES (while guys like Jones and Sherman had just been molded to try to "imitate" -ironically: Beatlemania- whatever fad came on the scene after 1964). So, I think this element DID give D.C. an "edge" to his persona which was not contrived. I, actually, had never heard a FULL P.F. album (beyond the obvious hits) until relatively recent: when I found a reel to reel of (the second P.F. one) UP TO DATE(!). What immediately struck me was how WELL these songs were produced and mixed (honestly: even considering how recording technology had drastically evolved to 16-track -by then- from just a few, short years earlier...the songs, at least on this one album, sound better than what most of George Martin's crew seemed capable of mixing before 1969 ). I mean, any notion of "Bubblegum" nonwithstanding: the P.F. records were made at the same place Brian Wilson did Pet Sounds (Western Recorders). There's an obscure song on side two of the P.F.'s Up To Date, called: THERE'S NO DOUBT IN MY MIND. It's almost foreshadowing, in a sense, how D.C. sings it in such a world-weary way (still at such an early point in the whole, P.F. consumer/teenybopper-blitz saga)...like he's laying-out the situation he's (now) cast-in and practically *pleading* with the girls (he's been publicized to sell to) that he isn't the contrivance they read about. (mine)

Welcome and great thoughts Jim! I enjoyed the video of your reel to reel!
Try to find the PF's Sound Magazine, their third album I believe. I have always called it the PF's Revolver and then quickly duck from the irate Beatles fans!
You are right though, cats like Hal Blaine is drumming on the records so they are well made!
