Which of Paul McCartney's four albums that would nominated for the Grammy Album of the Year award do you think should have won? The four albums that were nominated were Band on the Run, Tug of War, Flaming Pie, and Chaos and Creation in the Backyard. My pick would be Band on the Run.

I think they were all worthy to win the award, but to give a definitive answer I need to research what other artists' albums they were competing against.

That's what I was thinking. 1973 was a great year for music. Dark Side of the Moon, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road... off the top of my head. Both of these were better than Band on the Run.

Okay. Wiki's got them all. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award_for_Album_of_the_Year#RecipientsBand on the Run wasn't nominated until 1975. Concert for Bangladesh won in 1973. Neither Dark Side of the Moon nor Goodbye Yellow Brick Road were nominated. Band on the Run was up against Caribou. Caribou had a few good songs but it was nowhere near as good as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Stevie Wonder's Fulfillingness' First Finale won against Band on the Run. I don't know the album, so I can't say.

BAND ON THE RUN and FLAMING PIE would be two I would strongly feel are the best of their year.

One thing that struck me when looking at Paul McCartney's Grammy history was the Beatles' albums that were not even nominated in the Album of the Year category. No nominations for Rubber Soul, or the White Album. None for Meet The Beatles, or A Hard Day's Night. Only Help!, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour received nominations and from these only Sgt. Pepper won.

Abbey Road was also nominated for an Album of the Year Grammy Award.

To me, Chaos was a masterpiece. It was an older, wearier Paul making another Revolver for older, heartbroken people(as he was at the time).
It should have won the Grammy but we all know that seldom does the truly best album win.

Tug Of WarNominated for the 1983 Grammy Awards Album of the Year Also nominated: American Fool (John Cougar) The Nightfly (Donald Fagen) The Nylon Curtain (Billy Joel) Toto IV (Toto) Winner: Toto IV (Toto) Comments: Should have had a good chance this year. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that Stevie Wonder was one of the presenters for Album of the Year and he was visibly disappointed or even shocked when Tug of War was not called. I'll try to find a clip.
