Trying to get something going on this board I thought I'd match up Paul McCartney's US top 40 singles for a tournament. I ranked them by their highest chart position. I broke ties for #1 by weeks at #1. Other ties were broken by overall weeks on the chart. I did not count the Kayne West songs or The Girl Is Mine as Paul is more guest than featured artist. The only B side I'm including is Sally G as that song charted at #39 by itself.
So speaking of #39, we have three songs that will have a "play-in" to determine who gets the 32nd spot in the field
So cast your vote for:
Letting Go London Town Sally G

My favorite of the three would be Letting Go.

An easy one for me.
1. Letting Go. A great track that should have charted higher. I wonder why Paul never played this song live since the 70s. 2. London Town I find a bit silly and dull. 3. Sally G I thought was pretty embarrassing when I was younger but since then I have grown to enjoy it.
Anyway, I vote Letting Go and I expect most people will also vote for it.

Paul has played "Letting Go" again but it is still a snoozer. "London Town" was "Penny Lane 1978."

Letting Go
I saw Paul play it live in 2010. It sounded good.

It is weird because you and I agree more than we disagree, Niner! I have recently been on a London Town album kick and I think the title song evokes in me all the magical stuff I think of when I think of London like Mary Poppins, Peter Pan and Jack the Ripper! Wait a minute, it is Give My Regards To Broadstreet that reminds me of the Ripper, not the song "London Town." *.*

Funny I was playing London Town a bit lately too. The two tracks that I don't care for that much are the title and With A Little Luck (always amazed me it made number 1). I quite like the album. Famous Groupies, I'm Carrying, Cafe, Deliver Your Children, Backwards Traveller are songs I enjoy a lot as well as the two great tracks, Don't Let It Bring You Down and Morse Moose.

I see it's too late, and it wouldn't have changed a thing, but "Sally G" is one of my top five solo McCartney tunes.

We agree on a few things, Give Ireland Back and Sally G at the bottom and Live and Let Die, Uncle Albert and Maybe I'm Amazed at the top.
The only song I'd say I wasn't a fan of is Press. It's just a little too pop fluff for me and a terrible single from the album; not very representative of the album at all.
I surprise myself having a song like My Brave Face so low. But that just illustrates how strong I think the tracks above it are. I could put it above Mary a Had a Little Lamb but I think I'm supporting the underdog with it. I like everything going on in the background with it.

I could give similar sentiments to Sally G as you did for My Brave Face as I actually enjoy Sally G.
I think Spies Like Us is terrible and I don't like Hi Hi Hi (though I do like the live version on WINGS OVER AMERICA) and I noticed you had them quite high.
You have My Love and Ebony And Ivory much lower than me. I know I'm in the minority of fans on these message boards in my praise of "Ebony And Ivory", I think it is darn clever and having Stevie Wonder sing it with Paul was brilliant.
Press was as good a choice as any for the single from PRESS TO PLAY, which is one of Paul's weakest albums in my opinion. Lots of "failed experiments" in my opinion. Don't hear much else there that is single material. Maybe "Only Love Remains" if you are going for the slow song (I like it batter than "So Bad", which was a single).
But yes we do have some similarities and I'm glad you pointed those out!

So Bad was Pipes of Peace.
Paul released an alt version of Pretty Little Head as the second single from Press to Play. I would had preferred the album version as the single. (Wonder if that alt version is out there?) Stranglehold may had been the best "traditional single material" to release.

Yes I know So Bad was PIPES OF PEACE. I was saying that Only Love Remains could have been a hit from PRESS TO PLAY since So Bad had been a hit from PIPES OF PEACE.
I think Pretty Little Head is terrible.
Stranglehold is OK.

I think Pretty Little Head is terrible. Stranglehold is OK. Oh, okay. I get what you're saying but I think So Bad is one of Paul's best. I like Only Love Remains because it is so quirky; a very odd song. Not as quirky and odd as Pretty Little Head though, and not anywhere near as good. It was apparently released as a single. It charted in the UK and reached #34. I remember Paul performed it on a show emceed by a little kid. The kid also did an interview with Paul.
