On to Round two:
#1 (Just Like)Starting Over vs. #8 Watching The Wheels
#2 Whatever Gets You Through The Night vs. #7 #9 Dream
#3 Woman vs. #11 Mind Games
#4 Instant Karma vs. #5 Imagine
If the first round was easy to pick, this round looks exactly the opposite!

#8 Watching The Wheels (My favourite Double Fantasy track.)
#7 #9 Dream (One of my very favourite John Lennon songs.)
#11 Mind Games (Another all-time post-Beatles favourite of mine.)
#4 Instant Karma! (To me it is obvious that Imagine is his greatest post-Beatles song, but I went for Instant Karma! because I see it as better single material.)

#8 Watching The Wheels: My favorite DF song; Top 5 Solo Lennon for me.
#7 #9 Dream: Easy choice, #9 sounds like John; WGYTTN sounds like Elton John.
#11 Mind Games: Harder, but keep on playing those mind games, forever!
#4 Instant Karma: Brutal! Absolutely brutal! I went with the one I can dance to.

#1 (Just Like)Starting Over vs. #8 Watching The Wheels Watching the Wheels - This is an easy pick for me.
#2 Whatever Gets You Through The Night vs. #7 #9 Dream This one's harder, but I have to go with #9.
#3 Woman vs. #11 Mind Games Easy. Mind Games
#4 Instant Karma vs. #5 Imagine Instant Karma. There's a little bit of burn-out on Imagine; still a great song.

#8 Watching The Wheels #7 #9 Dream-agree with JSD #11 Mind Games-virtual tie #5 Imagine-another "tie" but even though Imagine is played to death-it is essential Lennon.
If Ringo drummed on Instant Karma-I wonder if they would have tried to pass it off as a Beatle single-with three Beatles now being on it and a precedent set the year before with Ballad. And if so, would it have charted differently?

#1-(Just Like ) Staring Over-very close
#7-#9 Dream-very easy choice
#11 Mind Games-I like Woman, but Mind Games is more universal
#5 Imagine-this would be my final matchup-both songs are great!

#1 (Just Like)Starting Over
#2 Whatever Gets You Through The Night
#11 Mind Games
#4 Instant Karma
None too hard.
The seeding method, which appeared to be based on chart positions, ended up with songs from the same album facing off in two of the four matches. No big deal--only one can win.

FINAL RESULTS OF ROUND 2: Watching The Wheels has the closest match defeating (Just Like) Starting Over #9 Dream almost perfect over Whatever Gets You Through The Night Mind Games with a perfect sweep of Woman Instant Karma with a surprisingly easy win over Imagine Wish I could remember the final four of the tourney I ran on the entire Lennon catalog. I'm pretty sure I set it up so "Imagine" and "Instant Karma" wouldn't see each other until the final--and they did, with "Instant Karma" winning. JcS
