I located a copy of Venus and Mars DTS Surround CD. The sound is amazing but the track order is different than the regular release. Does anyone here know if this is a record company mistake or Paul's decision? Here is the running order: 1. Venus and Mars 2. Rock Show 3. Letting Go 4. You Gave Me the Answer 5. Love in Song 6. Magneto and Titanium Man 7. Venus and Mars - Reprise 8. Spirits of Ancient Egypt 9. Call Me Back Again 10. Crossroads 11. Medicine Jar 12. Listen to What the Man Said 13. Treat Her Gently - Lonely Old People

Treat Her Gently - Lonely Old People According to a note on Steve Hoffman's board, what you have is the original running order of the Quad 8-track. The DTS disc IS the original Quad mix. Venus and Mars never came out on vinyl in Quad as far as I know - just on 8-Track. ..
That is why the running order of V&M is all mixed up - that is how it was presented on the original 8-track (why, I have no idea. BOTR runs same as the LP).
Thankfully, the DTS discs sound a LOT better than the original 8-tracks!
I don't know why the reviews of V&M are so negative - it's actually a pretty innovatove use of Quad, with instruments traveling all around and vocals bumped to the REAR L&R on some songs. If there is any complaint at all, it's the compression - which is even MORE heavy-handed than on the standard stereo mix. The whole thing sounds like it was squeezed through a juicer! Still, a pretty interesting listen.

joeyself & brucem,
I just checked the BOTR Quad 8 Track on my shelf, and the running order is identical to the LP with no "bonus" tracks. Perhaps it is just that plain and simple; since the "original" quad source made no changes, neither did the DTS release.
