macca-news.blogspot.com/2018/10/coming-up-wild-life-and-red-rose.html?m=1&fbclid=IwAR2H20V9BC0aIIFu8tJXdmOF_dBRyXv2W1w7IJnIEva_oHqhPZE9arn4BtE"Wild Life" and "Red Rose Speedway" to be released December 7th, 2018 Although not yet officially confirmed, it is really coming this fall: the next installments of Paul McCartney's Archive Collection: the first two Wings albums Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway. The first photos of the Deluxe Box sets have been revealed and there is now more known about the content that we can expect. And that looks extremely good. The biggest surprise: Red Rose Speedway will also be released as double LP, as originally intended. The release is probably set for December 7th. A total of three CDs will be published of Wild Life. The first with a new remastered version of the album, one of the album but in a so-called rough mix and the third cd consists of bonus tracks. The three CDs together are only available in the Deluxe Box Set, which further consists of a DVD and a book. The album will also be released as double CD / LP. From Red Rose Speedway two different double LPs are released on vinyl. The first consists of the remaster of the album and an LP with bonus material. The other double LP is the originally intended album as it was never published in the end. The Box Set consists of three CDs, two DVDs and a Blu-Ray disc. Configurations: Wild Life 2 CD/LP Wild Life Deluxe Box Set (3 CD+DVD+Book) Red Rose Speedway 2 CD Red Rose Speedway 2 LP, Archive Edition Red Rose Speedway 2 LP, Original Version Red Rose Speedway Deluxe Box Set (3 CD+2 DVD + BR + Book) Track listings: WILD LIFE CD1 – Remastered Album 1. So that's four box sets I need to buy between now and Christmas.

Thanks Rocko! Those Boxes are beautiful, I openly wept when gazing at them!
I hope the "Mumbo" on Disc 2 "Rough Mixes" is the legendary 30 minute version! A guy could really do The Mumbo Stomp to that!

JSD, does the Live and Let Die single officially end the Postulate Era, or does it begin the post-Postulate Era?

That big combined WWL/RRS box looks very impressive. I had naively assumed that it would simply be a way for those fans who wanted to buy both individual boxes to do so at a slightly reduced price. But no, the price is outrageous. The extra 1972 live CD is admittedly welcome, but there were rumours about that suggested a dedicated Wings 1970s live box set might be released in 2019. I found that idea appealing, but now wonder if the project has been scrapped (if it existed at all).

Friggin' amazing!!! I thought I'd be six foot under before any of this saw the light of day..... Can't wait. Of all the Macca re-issues this has got me most excited. Bring it on!!! And... bring on London Town and Back to the Egg next....

JSD, does the Live and Let Die single officially end the Postulate Era, or does it begin the post-Postulate Era? My reading of the postulate is that it would be the end... but who am I to hazard such an uneducated guess?

Great for the Die hards,
not my favourite Paul albums by a long shot so i won't be getting them, all of these re-releases are probably the young Turks superannuation for when daddy departs this mortal coil.

JSD, does the Live and Let Die single officially end the Postulate Era, or does it begin the post-Postulate Era? "Live And let Die" has one foot in Postulate territory and the other foot in the post-Postulate Paul era! The use of George Martin was a signal that Paul was ready to go back into the stifling Beatles Box for simply commercial reasons thus the end of Paul McCartney as a funky, fun and free Rocker! He was [yawn] pseudo-BeatlePaul again but with no Beatles!

LMAO! I do love WWL and RRS but you are right, James needs some kind of income stream since he has proven that he is utterly incapable of supporting himself by music or otherwise!

G reat for the Die hards,
not my favourite Paul albums by a long shot so i won't be getting them, all of these re-releases are probably the young Turks superannuation for when daddy departs this mortal coil. I don't actually rate them highly either, but I have pre-ordered the big box. I resisted buying the box sets for the previous archive series releases for a long time, but then ended up buying all of them. The inclusion of bonus audio material on the Flowers In The Dirt box that was not otherwise available was what got me hooked. They are doing it again with these latest releases. If you want the 1972 live work you must buy the big box. I must admit that even though I don't particularly like Red Rose Speedway (I do like several of the individual tracks.), I am looking forward to hearing the original two LP track list for this album. Maybe it might change my opinion of that album's possibilities.

That's the spirit, KC!
Did you pre-order the combined Box from paulmccartney.com? What worries me there is no price reduction guarantee like with amazon.com. My Imagine Deluxe Box dropped significantly from when I pre-ordered it to when I paid for it.
I wonder if that combined box will only be available from Macca's website so he can control the price?

Yes, I did and the pre-order is already confirmed. There won't be any price drop for me. I felt I needed to buy early in order to be sure of getting a copy. There was talk on the net that this will indeed be a limited edition. I'll have to wait and see if that is correct, but I didn't want to miss out. I'm not sure the box is even listed on Amazon at present. Even if it is it won't necessarily be available from their mediocre Australian site and we can't always buy from their US or UK shopfronts. This box costs the most money I have ever paid for a set of recordings. I just hope the thing arrives undamaged.

They say history doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme. Some 48 years ago, one of the rows the Beatles had was over the release date of McCartney in relation to Let It Be. Now, Paul is set to release his box set of Wings Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway pretty much at the same time as theWhite Album box.
If one wanted to get the deluxe of all three releases, one would be sending, what, over $600? Yes, I know that the Imagine box has recently come out, too, but it did come out early enough to not compete directly with the White Album. But, Paul's set is competing for the holiday sales. I don't get why Paul and Apple couldn't have coordinated a bit more, like the Beatles and the Stones would. Or, maybe they tried, but neither would hold their product back.
If we're talking about a single CD, most of us could afford to by all three, but for the deluxe sets, that's asking quite a lot economically, even if we can manage to hope for others to get them as part of our Christmas lists.

Well some pressure is off us as the combined Box of WWL and RRS with the Live Wings album(the early and best Wings!) is sold out and was limited edition. It is gone and we need not worry about buying it because we can't now! The WWL and RRS individual Box Sets will drop to like $58 for WWL and $75 for the RRS one just like all of Paul's other Box Sets have. But I agree sayne, not a good marketing ploy by Paul.

Love it, very impressed...Gonna get all of the *Wings* archive releases... You are a true fan, RockoRoll. I'm hoping the "rough mixes" of Love Is Strange and Tomorrow increase my appreciation for those songs. I just don't like Linda's vocals being prominent on the former and Paul's "strange" voice on the latter from the actual album.

I was finally able to open the WWL Box and I am here to say that the sound is awesome on Disc 1, the 2018 Stereo Remaster. This album, always in pretty good sonics, comes to life here and feels very intimate and very contemporary!
Disc 2 is the "Rough Mixes" and these are likewise outstanding. Like the "Rough Mix" versions on the recent Imagine Deluxe Box, these are stripped back versions sometimes with an entirely different vocal track!
I am not so much into the "stuff" like reproduced notebooks and Polaroid photos but the music sounds outstanding! Of all the McCartney reissues, this and Speed Of Sound, have the best sonics! You can really hear a difference!
I'm off to do The Mumbo Stomp but in a heated environment!

I was hoping for a good version of this in Paul's normal voice. My big box hasn't arrived yet. It was dispatched on December 7. That's December 7 in the U.K., so December 8 in Australia. Usually, these things take two weeks or a bit more to get here, so I should receive it just before Christmas.

KC, the vocal track on "Tomorrow" is different I believe but I must leave it for you to decide if you like it! A good example of "fixing" a vocal is the 2017 Stereo Remix of "She's Leaving Home" where Paul's normal voice is used, not that altered aberration we had had for years in the Stereo version! But I love the old "Tomorrow" so I am of no help here!

If everyone had a copy of these bonus discs and had listened to them a couple of time, it would make for an interesting Tourney.

My big box was delivered yesterday; box number 1930. The packaging was the best I have seen for such things, so I need not have worried about it being damaged in transit. It's truly a beautiful release, a virtual cornucopia of "postulate era" goodies.
Not that I have listened to much of it yet, just a few random bonus audio tracks. How is it that Best Friend has remained unreleased until now? I like that one. In my opinion, if you were to delete Loup and the medley from side two of Red Rose Speedway and replace them with Night Out, Best Friend (live), The Mess (live) and delay the album's release so as to include Live And Let Die as well, you have one classic McCartney album. That sort of reflects my long held and so far unchanged opinion that there was only enough strong material for one really good album between Ram and Band On The Run.
