OK, here's a poll. Which 2018 box set did you like the best.

I voted for The Beatles a/k/a The White Album as it is The Beatles in glorious performance throughout.
I must say the Imagine Box was superb and darn-it so were the WWL and RRS Boxes. I did not buy the combined Wings 1971-1973 Box as I erroneously thought that it would not sell out and I was going to wait the price out.
Steve, you may have written on this and I missed it, but is there going to be more of 71-73 re-issued or is the WOE disc going to be released on its own at some point?
Not listed here as it is not Beatles or related but I spent a lot of time on Bob Dylan's Blood On The Tracks Box which was fantastic!

No, I haven’t heard of a separate release of that other stuff.

Do the solo releases even have a chance? These were all great releases.

I enjoyed them all. But the White Album has to be the winner by far. Helter Skelter has Paul's vocal too high in the mix and Ringo's "blisters" comment criminally faded down.Revolution #1 sounds too much like a pastiche of itself, But they are minor quibbles. The overall package was excellent. Even the basic 3xCD set.
I didn't think there was much could be done after the 2009 mixes. They still sound fresh and modern. However Giles managed to make Long, Long, Long realize its full potential. Many of John's songs sound much better with his vocals more prominent. And the Esher Demos have never sounded better.

They outnumber the group releases. 😊

I also think the book in the White Album Box is superior to the other books not just the writing but the quality of it, the print and the images. Those Macca books in WWL and RRS have good text but they look and feel shoddy! The Imagine book is cool but the WA50 is best!

The separate Imagine book is better. Too bad they didn't include that one, but then the price would have been higher.

I happened to be at a Barnes and Noble over Christmas and looked at that Imagine book and it is awesome! I need to get it. I am still thrilled with what we got in the Imagine Box. That period was a shining moment for John as he was not yet distracted with the U.S. Immigration case being still in England making that album. There is this revisionist history that John was incompetent in the studio but whenever I hear outtakes of John in the studio he is fully in command of the Sessions and the other musicians whether it be POB, Imagine, MG, W&B and especially Double Fantasy where he was not so much with close friends like he largely was for Imagine but professional studio musicians. These alternate Discs from the Imagine Box show John at the top of his game as he not only delivers an all-time anthem in the title song but an entire classic album!

I have a lengthy audio interview with Elliot Mintz that I need to edit down for my podcast. He said some wonderful stuff to me for the interview I did with him.

I finally played the first Blu-Ray Disc from the Imagine Deluxe Box and it is exhausting simply because there is so much material on it, like 3 regular CDs!
Why do they give us these audio only Blu-Rays? Is the sound better or maybe because they can be played in surround sound systems?
I just have an old-fashioned 2-Channel Stereo system so I am not hearing a big difference in the Blu-Ray audio although it seems louder, I don't have to turn the volume up as loud.
Today I will try to get to Imagine Blu-Ray Disc 2 and I need to play the White Album Blu-Ray Discs which I have not touched.
Another question for the stereophiles among us is the Imagine "Original Quadraphonic Mix;" I take it that should be played on a surround sound system and not my 2-Channel system! I had "Quad" 8-Track Tapes but never had a quad stereo as a kid just as I don't have surround sound now although I do have a Stereo Receiver that could do the 5.1 but I have never purchased the other speakers.

Voted.
I went for the Wings 1971-1973 set - an awesome presentation. On the other hand, I thought all the others were very good as well.
I noticed that Weird Al Yankovik won the 2019 Grammy award for "Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package" a few days ago. None of our Beatles' related boxes were nominated. I think they were all released too late in the year to qualify. The earliest of them to appear, Imagine, was released in October. I suppose it's conceivable though that all of them might be nominated for next years award show.

I thought Grammy awards were only given to contemporary recordings and not remixes/remasters of older works?

I thought Grammy awards were only given to contemporary recordings and not remixes/remasters of older works? Apparently not in this "Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package" category. The Yankovik box was a "complete works" collection, The Wings Over America box won it a few years ago, etc.

I've just remembered there is a "Best Historical Album" category as well. Band On The Run won it in 2012.
