I listen to a podcast called This Day in Jack Benny that plays classic Jack Benny radio broadcasts. I was listening to a 1940 show and at the end was a Sanka Coffee commercial. At the beginning of the commercial you hear a train barreling through followed by the barking of a dog. I'm wondering if a young Brian Wilson may have heard a rebroadcast of this show and the end commercial and if he remembered it to recreate as the coda of 'Caroline, No'. Here's my Dropbox link which I hope works hear so you can hear the commercial. What do you think? Link: 1940 Sanka Coffee Commercial

Could be! Look how John Lennon took random newspaper articles and wrote songs from them and, of course, he wrote "Good Morning, Good Morning" from a Kellogg's commercial.
