Did it go the way of HD DVD?
Is DVD Audio going to be the way to best hear 5:1 mixes?

I didn't own a SACD player but I bought a few of Dylan's albums in this format and they sounded absolutely terrific even on my regular c.d. player. Now though his whole catalog has been remastered so one can buy the regular, but remastered, c.d.'s for a lower price than SACD and they sound great too..

Don't know about you guys, but I'm still trying to figure out whatever happened to quadraphonic sound. Never ever heard it. Any comments?

My John Lennon Walls and Bridges 8 Track was labeled as quadrophonic, which I think was the great grandfather of 5:1.

It was all the rage in the mid 1970s but died a quick death, as I recall. The closest I ever came to it was 5.1 Surround Sound with a Pioneer Elite receiver I bought in 1997. Unfortunately, lightning ate my receiver (I'm still pissed off at God for that! Might have been payback...I don't know. ;D) and I haven't gotten round to replacing it. I had/have four Polk Audio speakers with a Mirage subwolfer and center channel speaker with a 60 inch Mitsubishi TV. I have to get back on line with that. I miss my set up.
