Geez. How I hate getting nicked by a couple bucks. Almost had the complete cover in my collection...

The Handwritten lyrics have just gone for £421,250 ($830,706)
Not as much as the drum but still way above the estimate.
I've been following the auction online and out of the ninety odd Beatles lots up for auction, most of them went for more than the estimated price.

Must be nice to have that kind of coin lying around. It would have made a great little conversation starter when people stop by the house. Oh well...

I wonder if he sold it. Isn't he reputed to have quite a stash from the Pepper years? It would be a pretty straight-forward method to pay off his mistake with HM...

It was stated on the programme i watched yesterday morning that there were in fact two of the drums made, the other one being slightly different, and that Paul has that one in his private collection.

According to Ringo Paul has lots of stuff. Ringo said it after he had lost a lot of the things he had in a house fire. One thing we can be certain of is that Paul will not sell any of the stuff. He collects it and saves it, he does not part with it. The only thing he has done according to Cynthia and Julian is to give Julian things he thought would be meaningful to him. Remember that Paul was really poor as a kid and that can affect you two ways if you get rich: The first is that when you get boatloads of cash you spend it faster than Elton John OR you are very careful with your money thinking it could all go away tomorrow. Paul falls in the second category. Most of his money spending is on things that gain in value - property, investments. His houses are small compared to most rich people (no mansions in his porfolio). He does buy land to surround those properties which is far more valuable than the house itself. He does like fancy holidays though and he does spend money on his kids - buying them houses. I don't think he is too far away from the thinking he had as a working class kid in Liverpool as far as his spending is concerned.

Would I LIKE to buy that drum? Yes. Could I AFFORD to buy that drum? Most certainly not. (sorta surprised that fabfour hasn't found an animated avatar pic of Kylie's gold shorts... I mean, since he had that one of Charlotte Church's cleavage recently...) NP: the Who, "Magic Bus," Live at Leeds (deluxe edition)

I believe it was John that had the most extensive bootleg Beatles collection in the world...he litererly would have the record shops call him when a new one surfaced and buy it

I have read stories about John and his collecting. One guy had something he wanted(can't remember what) and Lennon traded him a Butcher Cover for it! Also John was invited to attended a Beatle Fest and was going to go. He was offered all the Beer he could drink and a Rare USA Ticket To Ride Picture Sleeve!! Don't know why he didn't attend but he wanted too!!
