Before we were married, my future wife and I were killing time in a record store when I gazed at the complete BBC Beatles sessions. I began talking out loud how I was going to start saving money to buy it. It was over $250.00. To my surprise, she said If I wanted it, she's put it on her credit card! Wow! Now I was hooked! I HAD TO MARRY HER NOW! Since I'd seen the box set in the store for several weeks, I said to the young guy behind the counter....I'll give you $100.00 for that BBC box set. He said OK! I got a great deal and I fell further in love with my girlfriend. We married within the year. Still happily married too.
I love that box set for it's completeness. Another of my favorites is The Beatles ARTIFACTS made in Italy. Here's to Beatle fans with understanding spouses. Darren D'Rito

LMAO pbirdchat! It appears we have experienced quite similar lives in this regard. If you are referring to the black box BBC set, I also picked it up in the mid eighties. Artifacts (both volumes) are, indeed marvelous sets, and contained huge amounts of material that just weren't available at that point in time. As for credit cards...my wife sprung for my first ever pair of Bose 901 II speakers (We were also "just going out" at the time & married within the year). They literally changed my life and the way I listen to music. ;D

Here's to Beatle fans with understanding spouses. You Sir are either a wiseguy or a sadist, taunting us unfortunate Beatles' fans with misunderstanding or just plain cruel, anti-Beatle spouses.

Wish I could've been there for you JSD. I would've tried to talk you out of it. Would I have been successful? God only knows. Several of my nephews are divorced. Did they listen to Uncle JMG?

When I was dating my now wife, The Beatles were cool to her. She acted like the Beatlefests I took her to were fun(we went to two together) and she even bought a cool John Lennon t-shirt. But then I said, "I do," and BOOM, The Beatles were all but banished in our married life. No more Beatlefests, no more Lennon tshirts, no posters or even my nice framed prints, records banished to my office, dvd collection daily threatened with similar banishment and my c.d.'s are deemed persona non gratis. Where were you JMG!
