What "lost song" you would most like to hear? Some of these may or may not exist in releasable form (question mark). I left Kinfauns, BBC, live and Decca stuff that is still unofficially released out, since good versions exist in Bootleg form.
1. Carnival of Light 2. Helter Skelter 28 minute version 3. World Without Love acetate 4. Woman acetate 5. All Things Must Pass (tracked (not the Nagra version)rehearsal late Jan. 69 with Billy Preston) (?) 6. Sour Milk Sea studio version with original George guide vocal (?) 7. Watching Rainbows (John demo-not the rehearsal)(??)
other??

I also have an interest in Carnival of Light. I had heard WWL acetate existed. I had not heard about Woman. Woman is a great song both lyrics and music. There is a live version of Woman sung by P&G from Hulabaloo in early 1966 that is quite good.

John's demo of "Goodnight." Geoff Emerick says it once existed and John sung this song tenderly. I would love to have that.

A live version of "We Can Work it Out" from their December '65 UK Christmas tour. Hopefully one day a tape of one of those shows will surface.

I forgot the Roy Orbison version of Please Please Me, which supposedly was taped over at the time.

I don't know if this qualifies, but I still cannot believe that we have seen or heard everything from the Beatle/Elvis summit meeting.
Also, Dylan and John tried to cowrite something, but the session crashed and burned. I've always wondered if they put something on tape - awful as it probably sounded.
Also, jams by Hendrix, Clapton, and George in a New York hotel room.

I'd like to add any of the oldies songs the Beatles jammed to in front of the audiance in between filming takes of the "Hey Jude" video

Carnival of Light.
I didn't realize that ATMP was tracked? Was it at Apple? I didn't know any Twickenham sessions were put on four or eight track.

no not Twickenham. On 30 Days there are several takes of ATMP at Apple Studios with Billy Preston, There is one complete tight take on Nagra mono, but George's vocal is distant. If that rehearsal was being tracked at the time, someone could remix it as they did with Oh Darling and She Came in Through the Bathroom Window on Anthology.

I have 30 Days, and I realize what you're saying. There is the Nagra and might be a tracked copy. I'm hopeful, but it's a big if. I don't think the Recording Sessions book mentions any ATMP tracked sessions though. I was encouraged that the Fly on the Wall disc has a bit of ATMP.

correct-Lewishon says nothing about it supposedly covering all tracked material. But, things could have been missed. If they were at Apple playing-why not keep the mutlitracks running? They certainly cleaned up Blue Suede Shoes to make it presentable, along with the aforementioned Abbey Road "Apple" rehearsals. Even Dig it was multi-tracked.

Maybe someday -- ha -- we'll be treated to a nice surprise from the vaults.

My favorite is "Thank You Guru Dev/Happy Birthday Mike Love" from India. The best song never released is "Sour Milk Sea". The one I'd like to hear most is "Carnival Of Light".

I would love to hear Paul's "Etcetera" which he demo'd during the "White Album" sessions. Just FYI the question of more Beatles outtakes was posed to the late Neil Aspinall a few years ago and he said that they put out the best of what they had and there's not really anything else left. Sir George Martin had said that the reason why the long "Helter Skelter" was not put on "Anthology 3" was because they made a decision to focus on what the fans wanted, not fanatics. He said, and I'm paraphrasing, that fanatics would listen to anything done by The Beatles where a fan might listen to 5 minutes of the 28 minute version of "Helter Skelter" and then get bored and want to listen to something else. Now, it's hard for me to imagine any Beatles fan getting bored with the music, but what Martin was saying was that their goal was to get out the best stuff and give it to the fans more so than the fanatics.

Surely Apple could release something called "For The Diehards Only."

I am certain that the 28 minute Helter Skelter is not a long "blistering" rocker, but probably a drawn out jam with some bits and pieces of nice guitar work, but probably more so- missed notes, coughs, choppy chops, etcetera...

Carnival of Light and a remixed multi-track ATMP would be at the top of my list followed closely by John's Good Night demo...

A live version of "We Can Work it Out" from their December '65 UK Christmas tour. Hopefully one day a tape of one of those shows will surface. How about the full demo of We Can Work It Out. All we have is the demo up to the middle eight at which point John allegedly erased the rest of the song to use the tape for something else. I have often wondered if he did intentionally to cover up the fact that Paul had the middle eight on the demo when John had claimed to have written it later.

Even with something like this, you have to somehow fault John and try to boost Paul. I have no trouble personally in accepting that John just re-used the tape and erased the latter part of it, just to record some fun stuff. No hidden motives here, IMO.

It's lucky Paul was so good when he worked with John because the standard of his work nose dived when he no longer worked with John...go figure...

Out of many tracks mentioned above, I still believe "The Holy Grail" of outtakes sitting in the vaults continues to be the 28 minute version of HELTER SKELTER. Songs such as CARNIVAL OF LIGHT are less of a song and more of a psycedellic collage that many will more than likely "claim it's strange". Many of the others are demos and particularly are demos done by just one Beatle. But, HELTER SKELTER is a 28 minute full-band performance! And we used to think the 6 + min version of HEY JUDE was spectacular in length! *LOL* I know from sources it's not too dissimilar to an earlier take offered to us on the Anthology CD set and is pretty much a plodding long jam. But remember we were amazed with the 10 min REVOLUTION that surfaced recently and wasn't as far out and weird as REVOLUTION #9 is ( which uses the last half of this take as the bed for #9). HELTER SKELTER would be more enjoyable, and no so much as a novelty as a demo or rare track would be imo. Regards, Beatle Bob

Regards, Beatle Bob When the Beatles finally go to itunes- imagine offering all of these tidbits up- Complete speed corrected Decca, Acetates, lost BBC, live, alt. takes, Kinfauns, 28 Min Helter Skelter, all takes of Strawberry Fields, tons Get Back, and Carnival of light. Then the lost complete studio version of Watching Rainbows (one can dream-can't one?).
