Yes! "What he said!" Mr. Sulpy doesn't pull punches, does he?

Great interview - Doug is the Lewishon of the Get Back sessions (which Lewishon barely covered the rehearsals).
There are a few or us out here somewhat obsessed with the sessions-feeling perhaps there is a lost studio take of All Things Must Pass or even a better more complete version of Watching Rainbows. Who knows what is on those discovered Nagra reels. My vote is to bring Dr. Ebbetts (sp?) in to peform his magic on the Nagra stuff.

This is a really interesting interview. Sulpy's comments and opinions are actually really close to those of most Beatles fans -- in fact he'd fit in really well on this Board!! I sort of agree with his take on Let it be...Naked, in that although it dispenses with the Spector overdubs, it was a little too polished and airbrushed and lacked the rawness that the Beatles were originally going for. His comments regarding the lack of a 'Let it Be' DVD ring true as well. I like the jibe about them being too busy with the 'Circus Act' and 'flogging over-priced fountain pens'. This whole issue of Apple's treatment of the Beatles' back catalogue, and their marketing in general, is becoming increasingly serious and very sad. Does anyone know if the book referred to - 'Drugs divorce and a slipping image' is the American title for Get Back - The Beatles Let it be disaster?

That is a good interview. Has Sulpy's book been reissued? If so I would like to buy it.

Thanks, Steve. As always, I'll use your links to get there to buy it so your advertisers know where they are getting business from.

The book was called "Get Back" when it was published by St. Martins Press, but has reverted back to the "Drugs, Divorce ..." title for the latest edition. I like the other title, myself.

Not that he couldn't frequent both--I do--but Doug has his own board. I don't have the URL bookmarked on this computer, but it's not hard to find via a Yahoo or Google search. JcS Edit: Duh! It was linked on the interview: www.dougsulpy.com/dougsulpy.com/Doug%20Sulpy.html

I notice that Sulpy says of himself on his site, I am recognised as perhaps the world's leading expert on unreleased Beatles recordings. ...and I thought, wouldn't it be wonderful to be recognised as the world's leading expert on something, no matter how trivial. So, I've decided that if I ever have a website, it's going to say - Superhans is recognised as possibly the world's leading expert on beer drinking and the consumption of savoury snacks.Has a certain ring about it.

LOL! I know a little about beer drinking. I wish to become the world's leading expert on Agnetha Fältskog, the blonde goddess of ABBA. I have a long way to go but trying to get there will be fun. This woman is like Pattie Boyd but with talent and artistic skills! I think Sulpy knows what he is talking about. I have an old version of his "Get Back" book. I couldn't put it down.

I left the book as a somewhat unlikely donation to the hotel library where it sat alongside shelves of salacious tat by Jilly Cooper and Danielle Steele.
