I'm not a hunter either but I do understand the prospective of the hunter. In my area, the deer herd needs to be thinned out or they just over run the area, damaging crops, getting hit by vehicles and in some cases killing people. Better to harvest the meat for human consumption than let it rot in the field.

Well, I think if an animal is going to be hunted and killed, I feel better about it if it's to be eaten. Or at least made a nice fur coat of.

Enjoy! Bon appetit! Where do I get one of those, sayne? It looks like a super sized Dagwood sandwich...you know...from the old 'Blondie' comic strip. Can I get one with extra meat? The one in the picture looks kinda lean to me. ;D

I would suggest for all you meat lovers to watch the DVD Earthlings. Joaquin Phoenix narrates this in-depth look at what really goes on before that meat product hits your plate. I saw it last month and was quite moved. Here is the link. www.petacatalog.org/prodinfo.asp?number=VP546It is not so much the fact that we as humans eat meat, but the way the animals are brought to the point of despicable suffering before slaughter. The factory farms have got to go and rights have got to be granted to these animals while they are still alive.

Doesn't bother me in the least. Having worked in the Refrigeration and HVAC industry for over 31 years, I've worked on mechanical equipment in slaughter houses, I've been around it, I've seen what goes on. I look at a good steak the same as I look at a loaf of bread or a carton of orange juice. It's there for human consumption. If it bothers you then you shouldn't eat meat.

Okay, here's a lob ball for some of you. PETA has sent a letter to the Pet Shop Boys asking them to change their name. ;D ;D ;D
Okay, go for it.
At least it puts the issue of pet stores vs pet adoptions back on the table for discussion.

At least it puts the issue of pet stores vs pet adoptions back on the table for discussion. You have taken your shot at me and now it is my turn. Where do you get off making such an insane remark to equate the Pet Shop Boys with pet adoptions? I'm all for animal rights and so on, but would not equate or give this previous comment by yourself any weight at all. And by the overwhelming response you got from your lob, I don't think anybody else did as well. It is a band's name period. I'm sure they were not even thinking about puppy mills versus adoption when they came up with that name ions ago. Just like I didn't give it any thought when I used a certain word instead of another in your high horse attitude portrayal of me you righteous brute!!!! A pet shop offers a lot more than just selling mistreated animals. The animal is just one commodity it offers. Wrong as it may be, it is what it is. To even try and give credence to your remark is beyond absurd. I know you are a vegetarian and I applaud you for that. It takes discipline and conviction to be one. But don't you ever pass judgement on me again. You don't have the right and surely not enough knowledge about myself to even go there. I await your response eagerly and find your attempt at painting me as below your level of thinking extremely offensive to me. And to Steve. Please let this go. I am entitled to respond to an attack made by another poster on myself.

I did not even mention your name or allude to anything you've written in this thread or about PETA and the Pet Shop Boys. I wasn't agreeing with PETA. I thought it was funny, nay ridiculous, and wanted to share it with my meat eating friends here. It was so outlandish that I was willing to have the meat eaters on this board have at it, hence the "lob ball" reference. PETA's action here was ripe for a belting. It was a pinata waiting to be batted, and I was looking forward to seeing it happen. I wasn't going to defend it. I thought it would get a good laugh out of people while showing that I could see folly in things that PETA did. I don't know why no one bit. Maybe they thought I was setting them up. Sorry to anyone who thought that was my motive. Actually, I was simply trying to be one of the guys. You know, making fun of myself, in a way.

Extremely weak response in contrast to your other thread's response. Dodging, weaving and deflecting may be the order in your household, but not in mine. As Brando once said, Act like a man!!!! Whatever your motives were as far a peta is concerned, only you truly know. Keep eating your tofu and seiten concoctions and we may all be for the better in the end. If you were looking for a laugh on this peta thing, I could say the same for my comment on the discontinued thread. You want to exhibit a sense of humor, yet you criticize when one's other sense conflicts with your own. Explain without deflecting. Is it Pita bread or is it Peta bread? Let me state that this is a joke. A very bad joke, but nonetheless a JOKE!!!!!!

;D Fortunately for you all, I'm a vegetarian and animal rights person, so I won't be leaving any horse heads in your bed to act I'm a man. Ah, yes and very profound. But, the question of the week is, is it gonna be your head or mine in this infantile squabble that has occurred between a non-meat eating man versus a carnivore racist pig like me that loves pork chops? ;D
