Yep it should stay, it should be retitled *The Hollies*In the clip below Tony Hicks (lead guitarist) is the good looking guy on the right, in the middle is the dynamic lead vocalist Alan Clarke, and on the left is the legend Graham Nash (Rythmn Guitarist) from Crosby, Stills & Nash, Eric Haydock on bass, and Bobby Elliot on drums
Like The Dave Clarke Five, another great band The Beatles had to compete with (the fabs were from liverpool, and the Hollies were from Manchester)
Like Abba, congratulations to the lads for getting inducted into the RoR hall of fame, in February of this year.......
The Hollies - Look Through Any Window
Here is a another clip of the band (by this time Graham Nash had left to join CS & N, and was replaced by Terry Sylvester, and bass player Eric Haydock replaced by Bernie Calvert....
(I still prefer the original lineup above, the trio Graham, Alan, and Tony on vocals and harmonies, were just amazing.... ...)
Carrie Anne - The Hollies

Hmm. Three people have voted, with two taking the "Who's Tony Hicks?" option. (Oh, and I wasn't one of them.)

We can make it a Hollies sub-board, as Rocko suggested. We have a Brian Wilson sub-board and a Monkees sub-board. What's the harm?

I say have both: a Tony Hicks sub-board for those of us who find him dreamy and a Hollies sub-board for Tony's band for the purists here. I am biased of course. I dig Tony and think he is so cool.

For Paul MCCartney, for instance, it makes a huge difference or so I am told by the female fans. ;D

He is so doggone perky and fresh! He is also slightly cheeky in the early interviews which we, as Beatles fans, can appreciate. Maybe Steve could create a separate "The Hollies Section" but I would still love a Tony Hicks sub-section. He is just so adorable.

Agreed, especially for those who didn't know Tony Hicks is. Heresy! I'm 48 and this was the first time I've ever heard of Tony Hicks. THE HOLLIES puts it into perspective though.

I went with the "Who is Tony Hicks" because that's what I thought of when I saw the question. Reading into the thread, it came to me. I don't care one way or the other about the subboard.

Tony Hicks is a groovy guy who survived the 1960's, has had a long-term marriage(no one ever sings his praise like they did Paul and John for their marriages) and his son works at Abbey Road and has had some fame as it concerns our Beatles.
Tony is one of the good guys in Rock and they are hard to find. His guitar playing drove the Hollies. He is just so darn perky! I want to squeeze his cheek every time I see video of The Hollies.

I like the Hollies, too. But Tony Hicks isn't the Hollies.
And I really wasn't serious with the question. I know Taylor Hicks more than Tony Hicks.

I like the Hollies, too. But Tony Hicks isn't the Hollies. Some believe Allan Clarke is the Hollies. We want a Hollies sub-board! At least they are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I discovered two nights ago that I own a digitally "remastered" version of "Carrie Anne" on a compilation disc called Mellow Sixties. I felt like I discovered a pirate's treasure! Man, what a cool song where the three songwriters take turns on lead vocal. Allan Clarke starts and what a set of pipes, then Tony Hicks goes and I melt like butter with that sincere, innocent, pleasant, dreamy voice! Graham Nash gets a solo spot with his distinctive vocals to round it out. I wish the Beatles did an original song of merit where all three sang a solo spot, not a "Dig It"(although I think the long verion is cool) or even "Shout," a cover, which features all four but not really released until much later. Nor do I count "Free As A Bird" as John was not able to give a studio-quality vocal although FAAB comes closest. The problem is, The Beatles became such egomaniacs that they would never divie up a song like that. We were lucky to get John and Paul split solo vocal songs towards the end("A Day In The Life," "Birthday" and "I've Got A Feelin'). Anyway, I played "Carrie Anne" last night repeatedly until my wife came down from bed and made me stop it. "What's wrong with you?!" she demanded. I didn't feel like explaining my recent man-crush on Tony Hicks to her.

Do we know how, or if, Tony Hicks is celebrating what should have been John Lennon's 70th birthday October 9th?
I bet Tony will do something to honor John. He's so thoughtful that way.

Tony will be eating strawberry shortcake, in honor of Strawberry Fields Forever. Then, he and his son Paul, the Abbey Road mix engineer, who worked on the new Lennon remasters, will go to the Abbey Road rooftop and blast "John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band" so all of North London can hear. Then Tony will play "Mr Moonlight" on one of his many cool guitars and Paul McCartney, hearing the glorious sounds from his home around the corner, will come rushing to the studio to accompany Tony on Hammond organ. St John's Wood is the place to be Saturday.

Then that album would have sold billions because, "women are the other half of the sky."

Maybe Sir Joe didn't pay enough attention to the Hollies and didn't think of Tony. Women are the other half of the income too, so you'd think these record companies would get a clue and sell us some beefcake with our music.

I am not sure I'd want the 2010 versions of Tony and Paul naked on the album cover as I carefully wanted the 1968 versions of the two men when they were hotties. Gravity adversely effects men too. Unlike Paul, there was real substance behind Tony Hicks. He was sensitive and caring before James Taylor made that a joke for men.
