D'you know what? I know that George walked out and there were tensions beneath the surface....and there's a considerable amount of Macca showboating his way through the sessions -
BUT -- from the many clips that I've seen on youtube...d'ya know - they were having a good time - AND enjoying doing live stuff, especially in Saville Row.
Here's one of my fave clips from No. 3, which typifies the vibe from those sessions....
PS -- I've just had cable installed into my flat and I've been watching some American Football on DeutcheSport. There's this really great team called (I think) Pittsbough Steelers -- they look really good -- Are they World Champions?

Hey, did JCV put you up to that! ;D Agreed that there are some very "up" moments captured on film that didn't make the final cut of Let It Be. That's the kind of stuff that would have been nice on a bonus disc to the original film.

There seems to be tons of B & W footage. Is that film, or video tape?

Yes there are some great moments of them goofing around and smiling. I think there's a clip of Two of Us when they're clowning around. And the Lennon flub on Don't Let Me Down on the roof causes some great looks. Interesting that this clip of Get Back is so upbeat, as John referred to that song as a sore spot sometimes with Paul looking at Yoko as he sang the chorus. There's a great Linda photo of them working side by side and smiling. A black and white photo I think.

I suppose the Beatles, themselves, gave Let it Be a bad press for various reasons:
- It was very much seen as 'Paul's project' by the others, so they weren't best disposed towards it in the first place
- The negative spin, which Lennon directed towards the Beatles in many of his interviews circa 1970, cast LIB in a particularly bad light. It was a good target for his ire -- after all, it was 'Paul's project'.
- In term of the band's disatisfaction with the 'end product', I think mention should be made of the fairly dire and inept efforts of Glyn Johns to assemble a decent album from the available material. (Half-cut versions of Teddy Boy, 'Rocker', 'Save the last dance' were pointless inclusions and made the project seem worse than it actually was).
From the many clips available on Youtube, this caricature that's planted in most people's minds of Let it Be being a by-word for tension, squabbling, apathy and misery and the 'documentary of a band breaking up' is just plain wrong. They were clearly enjoying much of what they were doing and the vibes were generally really good.
People who are going through a 'hellish' experience simply don't behave like that.
Here's another clip of Paul fiddling with his hair:

It's starting to look like Apple is releasing Let it Be scene by scene on youtube.... There's Paul picking his nose, there'll probably be a scene soon with George scratching his arse and maybe even John and Yoko doing a horizontal Waltz to I Me Mine.... Good ol youtube...

I wish they'd just get their stuff together and give us a release of this already! ;D ;D Right to a girl's heart you go, superhans! ;D You must be on good terms with the cable guy and have perfect timing if the first thing you watched was the Stillers! That would be the Pittsburgh Steelers - winners of five, yes, count 'em, [glow=red,2,300] FIVE [/glow]Super Bowls as Rev66 has correctly stated. More than any other team in the NFL - in fact, in the world! They are indeed the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, superhans! Keep your channel clicker to that DeutcheSport channel and you'll see some great football this season! Enjoy! JCV

;D ;D Right to a girl's heart you go, superhans! ;D Coming straight back at yer, JCV!! Actually, I've seen some of your recent postings on the 'Off topic' board and when it comes to football your opinions seem really informed and unbiased. I like the nicknames you use for some of those other football teams -- like the Dolts and the Bungles. Is this what everybody in America calls them? Anyway -- I think the Pittsburg Steelers will be my team from now on. As we say in Germany: Diejenigen Pittsburgh Steelers sind eine Hölle einer Mannschaft des American Footballs!!!!!

Until next February there is only one World Champion and they exist in New York...um I mean New Jersey.
As for February, as Three Dog Night once sang...Eli's Coming!!!
I always rooted for the Steelers in the 70s Super Bowls though, as I hate Dallas as much as I love my Giants.

Lifelong Packer fan who now follows the Jets too. Suffered through the 70's and 80's and was greatful when Favre (and all his passes good and bad) came around.
A dream for me would be: I would love it if they could make Let It Be in 3D and show it at an IMAX.

. . . Anyway -- I think the Pittsburg Steelers will be my team from now on. In that case, "when in Rome . . ." _____ You know you're from Pittsburgh if... "Hey Yunz Guyz" is your traditional greeting. You know the time and location of every Wing Night in a 10 mile radius. You know the location of the following towns, know someone from them and have spent time there: Monongahela, Altoona, Bethlehem, Ligonier, Harmony, and Wilmerding. You've memorized lines from the movie "Flashdance". If you're a guy, your biggest fear was seeing your best friend drive into the "fruit loop". You're second biggest fear was seeing him drive out with Kordel Stewart. If you're a girl, you're biggest fear is getting hit on by a hairy-chested man, heavily weighted in gold chains, who refers to his friends as "junior" at Chauncey's. Your latest cultural experience: On your way to partying at Slippery Rock University, having to stop your car to let the Amish buggy cross the street. As your out-of-town friends brag about their latest trips to Europe, you think to yourself, "Polish Hill will suffice." You eat out at least once a week at a mafia-owned Italian pizza parlor. Your father has worked for the same company for over 20 years. You don't see what all the hype is about Disney World when Kennywood is just around the corner. You're having a hard time on where to take your Date out for dinner and a night on the town: - "meat on a stick" in the south side and the guzzling IC Light at Jack's - splitting an order of "O fries" and guzzling IC Light at Peter's Pub. " N at' " is eloquently added to the end of every sentence. You water ski on the Youghiogheny River Lake. You feel the only good bands out there are Donny Iris, Joe Grushecky, The Blue Oyster Cult, and of course.... Rusted Root. You were more worried about Jerome Bettis's health than your own. You own more than one original Terrible Towel. Your most bitter regret is that Dan Marino played for the Dolphins... You don't understand what all the hype is about for Rolling Rock beer, You've been drinking it for years, although Penn Pilsner is better. You consider a great vacation a trip to Conneaut Lake or Lake Erie ... For something a little more exotic, a trip to the Jersey shore. You're 35 years old, have never been outside of Allegheny County, and don't see the need to leave. You only own four spices: salt, pepper, Heinz ketchup, and the bottle of Trappey's Red Devil you swiped from Primanti's. You design your Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit. For the life of you, you can't understand why your all your out-of-town friends don't get the "fries and cole slaw" thing... You have 101 favorite recipes for kolbasi and sauerkraut. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow. You find 20F "a little" chilly. You know the four seasons: Winter, Still Winter, Almost Winter, and Construction. You remember fondly time off from school known as "Snow Days". Words like: hoagie; chipped ham; pop; and gumband actually mean something to you. You can use the phrase "Firehall Wedding" and not even bat an eye. ;D PS. But, seriously, I've been to many places around the world, and I have to say that driving from the airport to Pittsburgh will lead you to one of the most beautiful and stunning cityscapes (especially in the evening) in the world. Coming out of a very long tunnel (I don't know it's name), you suddenly see down below you the downtown area bounded by the three rivers. It is absolutely breathtaking. Spectacular! I'll leave it to our Pittsburgh friends to post a photo.

Our top story tonight: The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim clinched the AL West yesterday. Why would anyone post this in a 'Let it Be' -- Don't believe the hype...!' thread? Sheez! You'd think a high class place like this would have a special section set aside called 'Baseball Threads' for this type of thing. Sheez!
