I.U. beat Penn State today although Penn came out inspired by the death of Joe Paterno. State was beating us at half but we came out after halftime and kicked their butts. MikeV, sorry about the Orangemen loss in South Bend, Indiana. Notre Dame has had some big wins there against #1 teams and I remember watching them knock off UCLA and old man Wooden in 1974 or 1975 ending like a million wins in a row for UCLA! ;D Starting center Melo was left behind for academic reasons. Not an excuse- kudos to the University for sticking to academic standards, but SU was lost without him even "9" deep. Look for a second loss at Cincinatti tonight. Hey, you won! Congrats!

Thanks, but the Orange did their best to keep Cincy in the game by missing severalfree throws at the end including three fronts of one- and- one.

I.U. cannot win on the road. I am so sick of our inability to win a Conference game on the road. Good thing I was sober last night or my poor dog would have hid as my I.U. basketball game voice scares the poor girl. It is not endearing to my wife either but hey, any tone of my voice is not endearing to her and I am criticized. We lost at Wisconsin last night and they are a good team but not better than several of the teams we have beat this year(at home of course).

And, they met a week later and UCLA beat 'em good by about 20 points.

And, they met a week later and UCLA beat 'em good by about 20 points. That's the game ND never talks about! ;D I.U. smashed Iowa last night but it was predictably a home game. I look for us to lose out there as that has always been a brutal place for us to play. It killed us to lose to Minnesota at home and Nebraska there as Nebraska is not very good in basketball.

IU beat archrival Purdue Saturday night on the road!
If we were going to win a road game, that's the one Hoosiers want to win! All's good in the world...until the next game.

Well, Louisville just came within 2 points of beating No 2 Syracuse. That would have been nice.
For me, not mikev.

I.U. won a close one against Northwestern tonight at home.
We have now won 20 games this year. The last three years we've lost 20+ games a year.
I.U. is back!

I.U. beat arch-rival Purdue last night at home.
Barring a nuclear holocaust or rampant zombie assault, the Indiana Hoosiers are going to be part of March Madness for the first time in four long years.

MikeV, I am shocked and feel for you that your great center has been what, ruled ineligible from playing in the NCAA tourney? What is the scoop in Orangeland?
This will make the team emotionally stronger or kill them. It is up to the young men to step-up.
Same holds true for I.U. as we lost our Senior leader Verdell Jones III to a torn ACL in the Big 10 Tourney opener. We rebounded well in that game but it was against Penn St. The next day Wisconsin cleaned our clock and I blame it on Jones' injury and the confidence in our players shaken.
We must "man up" here and be mentally tough. We still have the talent to compete in the tourney but it is emotional.
With Syracuse it may be both emotional and physical as he was your big man. Still, good luck Mike and that First Seed means one warm-up game for the boys to get their sea-legs.

I.U. won its first round game of the NCAA Tourney! The first win in this tourney since 2007 and our first gamer since 2008.
Who are you rooting for? MikeV loves Syracuse(who also won but not without some controversy) and sayne likes San Diego St and UCLA(maybe not in that order). I think San Diego is in, did the Bruins make it in? I obviously didn't play schedule.

Oh yeah, lot's of people were saying New Mexico State were going to upset I.U., including Sir Charles Barkley who dissed us before the game. We will be underdogs from here on out despite our 4th Seed. We play the Tourney Darlings VCU Saturday night.
That will be tough.

I was 14 out of 16 yesterday, has NC State losing I think.

Jim Boeheim was hot after the game about the academics standards based on the center being ruled inelgible. I kind of think that is a topic a coach should stay away from. The coach can't win sympathy on saying academic standards are too tough. Boeheim did discuss the call and he supported the refs as we knew he would. I thought that would be a warm-up game for you guys even missing your big man. If sayne does like San Diego State, I am afraid they lost today.

Louisville took it's game pretty well. I have them beating Indiana in the brackets. I think I'd rather see us play Indiana more so than Kentucky, because it's been longer since that's happened. Well that and Ky being the number one team and everything.

I've been off sick with a head cold. I didn't fill out a paper sheet this year for the brackets at work. I sent an Excel sheet. I usually add everyones sheets up, so I'm feeling very out of it. I hope you didn't have Dame going out very far.

I watched Notre Dame as it is in Indiana and I was hoping they would advance as I.U. and even Purdue University. Man, ND sucks! They had like a 10 point lead at one time in the second half. MikeV will be delighted as Syracuse manhandled Kansas State. Almost reminded me of a First Round Game. Orange Crush indeed!

I.U. beat VCU! We are going to the Sweet 16, baby! I.U. is an amazing comeback story. I don't care if we were a 4 Seed and VCU a 12th, VCU made it to the Final Four last year and we are new to this again.
