I've finally got pay TV and can now watch Major League Baseball.
It's a great game, i played it in my youth...
The trouble for me is i don't know one team from the other but i'm sure that in both leagues there are teams that are always up there when it counts and there will be teams who can never quite get there...
What i would like is for someone to nominate the best 6 or so teams from each league so that when i'm watching i know where they're at, generally anyway..
American League..
Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox , Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, Oakland A's, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays,
National League Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies, Florida Marlins, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Nationals,

This is a job for baseball fanatic Steve Marinucci!
I am a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. The Cubs are a century of heartbreak, depression and despair!

Hey fabfour, if you like rooting for the underdogs and just KNOW that one day they will again be in a World Series and WIN, then root for the Pittsburgh Pirates! ;D We are already doing well with a 2-1 record, beating the cross-state rival Phillies this past weekend. As far as answering your question as to the top teams - that's hard to do when the supposed "top" three teams are 0-3 to start the season! Just pick one and stick with them! LET'S GO BUCS!!!!JCV

FYI, Sirius just added MLB games back in. (I don't think they had them the last two years.) I bought the MLB app for $14.95, which also does the same thing. But fyi for you Sirius subscribers.

And then there is the possiblity that George and John will rise from the dead and reunite The Beatles...... I loved that MLB The Show commercial that showed the Cubs winning the Series. Actually pushed me to buy the game, though I'd planned on getting it anyway.

Best teams from each league:
I could only pick four from the AL. Notice I didn't pick either the Sox or the Yankees. I'm a big Sox fan, but not a Bob V. fan. They won't go anywhere this year. The NL picks are pretty easy. I think my Giants will do good, though how good remains to be seen.
American League..
Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels, Oakland A's, Texas Rangers
National League
Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals,

(And I KNEW that once I gloated that they won their first 4 games they were bound to lose the fifth one today and make total fools of themselves.... ).

Tip: You can get free downloadable schedules to insert in your digital (Yahoo, Google) calendars that not only show each day's games, but also the scores after the fact. They're on each team's site at mlb.com. Search for "downloadable schedule" for the team you want. Most of you probably know that, but for some reason, I don't think they don't make this well known. It's a cool feature and at least for now it's free.

Wow..
I couldn't believe the Yankees first innings....
2 home runs in the first 4 pitches of the innings....amazing
they couldn't maintain it though ...3 runs all up in the 1st innings and then didn't score for the rest of the game....

See what happened? The Mets won their first 4 games this year, and when I gloated about it, they came back and lost a few games and played like Little Leaguers... So I zipped it, didn't say a word, and they started to win a few games again, playing great, and having great pitching...!! Then I gloated again, and they've just lost 2 games getting blown out, played like amateurs, and lost their pitching prowess

Just watched the Giants draw level with the Mets at the top of the 9th only to error themselves to a 5-4 loss in the bottom of the 9th.. Basics....don't those coaches teach these dudes the basics...

For now i'm following the Giants ;D Good call! ;D fabfour, if you ever make it over to the States, one way to see the great cities is to visit the ballparks. Wrigley Field in Chicago is a must-see for any baseball fan.
