On Parks and Recreation from Jan 20, the had an exhibit on William Henry Harrison. Displays were pretty weak for the man who was president for one month. One exhibit was other things popular for one month, featuring Chumbawamba and the Harlem Shake. Another feature was Other Famous Harrisons, with Chris Harrison, former host of the Bachelor, Harrison Ford and George Harrison, pictured in black and white in his Bangladesh white suit.
Chris Prank the goofy younger guy on the show, looked at George, and nodded his head like I don't know him.

Saturday Night Live last night mentioned the Beatles. On Weekend Update, 1860's news critic, Jebediah Atkinson was saying he never liked any Grammy nominee. Michael Che asked "Not even the Beatles? Everyone loved the Beatles". His reply was "If anything, they ruined Yoko Ono".

Good Morning America just did a spot on Paul McCarthy's (sic) surprise show Saturday. Rachel Smith apparently just slipped with the mispronunciation. During the clip, she adds "The guy's still got it. He (a toy dinosaur) loves it. He's singing to Paul McCartney."
Eddie Murphy and Jim Carrey were there at the concert.

On the new Fox drama Empire, there is a commercial now airing where the Record Executive's wife screams at her husband's new lover, "Well if Yoko Ono here is ready to sing the song..." Something like that. The character repeats Yoko's name twice to be even more spiteful! Here is a link to the show but not the quotation in question: www.fox.com/empireAgain just how the Beatles influence our culture.

Changes Begins Within, the benefit concert for the teaching of transcendental Meditation is airing on AXS TV on Jan 4th at 8:00 P.M. It features Paul and Ringo. I'm just getting around to watching this. Sheryl Crow did My Sweet Lord with Ben Harper. I noticed a few Georgism in her vocal delivery. She's a fan. Her guitar and the backing band sound just like the record, Ben playing the lead on his lap, steel guitar style. Although she did flub the lyrics here and there. "Really want to know you Lord but it won't take long". Eddie Vedder singing backup on Boys and Yellow Submarine with Ringo is cool.

60 Minutes did a story tonight on Bob Simon, the 60 Minutes and long-time CBS journalist, who about a week ago, died in an auto accident.
"The event is so momentous, historians may one day view it as a landmark in the decline of the British Empire. The Beatles are breaking up."
The piece shows Ringo leaving EMI studios at Abbey Road from around the same time period.
Isn't that an odd thing to do. Bob Simon's long storied career and they site a story he did on the Beatles?

Another Yoko reference on a show, this one Empire. I don't watch the show, I heard it on an Entertainment Tonight story.
"Oh, I get it. Yoko Ono here wants to play on the song too. Well, what can you do Yoko? Can you play the tambourine?"

Well, what can you do Yoko? Can you play the tambourine?" I've heard it in the promo as just Yoko. And I thought there was a Yoko character in the show, though I haven't watched it. Just checked the cast list and there doesn't seem to be.

"Teenagers all over the world are in mourning today. They're devastated because band member, Zane Malik (of One Direction) quit."
"The hysteria may remind baby boomers of that terrible, terrible day in 1970, when the Beatles broke up. Some fans are lashing out at Zane's fiancée, blaming her for his decision to quit the band. "A modern day Yoko Ono" one angry fan tweeted."

Zane Malik quit One Direction. They're this year's boy band. They all auditioned for Simon Cowell the European American Idol. He suggested they join up. They did the songs That's What Makes You Beautiful and the Story of My Life. They've been talked about here a little.
I should have cited my quote. I didn't realize that I hadn't. Now I don't remember.
Extra from last night repeated the same thing about the fiancée being blasted on-line as the Yoko Ono of One Direction.

From The Late Late Show on Feb 6, 2015, reran March 9th. Guest host John Maher is drawing a tattoo for Ed Sheeran and Ed is drawing one for John. "Neither of us can look until we are both done. It's what all the rockers are doing these days. It's how they bond. Did you happen to see the back piece that Dave Grohl gave Paul McCartney last year? A thing of beauty!"
"A couple of questions for inspiration. Your favorite Elvis? Fat Elvis/thin Elvis?" Fat Elvis, they both agree. "Yeah he was jolly!" "Sure was!"

Tuesday's Entertainment Tonight had a story on Ringo Starr. Ringo says compared to One Direction, we were on holiday, referring to the paparazzi.
Ringo admits that ET was there, interviewing him, because he was one of "them".
They played a sniplet of Postcards.
The ET correspondent Nischelle Turner, who did the story, goes on about not being able to believe he was 75.
That reminds me. I friend of mine at work brought the Rolling Stone magazine to me and asked if I seen it. He is about ten years younger than me, that'd be 47. (Hard to believe. He was the young kid I was partying with just a few years back.) He remarked how young Ringo looked on the cover. "He looks younger than ME!"

On an Elvis themed Hawaii Five-O from April 10, Lou asked Jerry, the heavy set dude from LOST, who was dressed in an Elvis jumpsuit the whole show, if he is not one of those nuts who believe that Elvis is still alive.
"Of course not. No sane person believes he is. Elvis died years ago. Almost as long as Paul McCartney."
Chin in complete surprise says "What?! He's one of the two Beatles who still is alive."
Jerry replies "Nope. Died in a car crash in '67, replaced by a look-alike."
Kono, the babe from Battlestar Galactica adds, "One very talented look-alike."
McGarrett says "Come on Jer, everyone knows that's an urban legend".
Jerry responds "What? Have you listened to Strawberry Fields? The evidence is all there. John confessed".
Lou says "Oh sure. And I suppose Ringo shot Kennedy".
Dano says "Do me a favor, don't get him started on that one".

On Letterman from 4/14/15, Julie Chen, TV personality and wife of President and CEO of CBS TV, Les Moonves, says her son is into the Beatles, for the second time. They taught him good music right after he was born, and now he's into them again. He has a renewed love of the Beatles because he got to meet Paul McCartney recently.
The kid says to Paul, excuse me Paul, I have a question". Paul looks down at the kid, so lovingly, "You know, you can call me Paul".
The kid says "want to know who my favorite Beatle is, Ringo!".
Dave goes on about how amazing it is in our temporary culture, that your son knows and loves the Beatles. She goes on about how great they were, but Dave insists that is up to people like her, him and Paul (Shafer) and everyone else to make sure that the generation that follows understand that. "And by god, they were right here, for heaven's sake" (the Ed Sullivan Theater, where Dave does his show).
Paul and the band played I Saw Her Standing There, going into the break.

From iZombie, Lowell says "I think Blain scratched me because he's into my music. He keeps asking me, 'When are we going to jam'". Liv, the main character, says "You never know, he could be zombie McCartney to your zombie Lennon".
This show is kind of skewed to the teen set. Apparently Lennon and McCartney is not too obscure for the youth of today.

John Cusack, who plays Brian Wilson in the new movie Love and Mercy, was on Good Morning America this morning.
He said "It's hard to overestimate the impact (Brian) had on music. If you think of it, he was blowing the Beatle's minds. They would make Rubber Soul and he would hear that and go into a whole different territory and write God Only Knows. ...and then they would hear that across the Atlantic. But when you think about it, the Beatles and the effect they had on culture, ... and there was this one guy, with one ear, who was going through a lot of tough times, but had a such a spark of genius in him, that, that this guy with one ear was the guy that was inspiring the Beatles".

A little bit later, the main villain character says "Hey, I'm the Mick Jagger here. Time is on my side".

According to Hilary Clinton, her opponents are all singing the same old song. "A song called Yesterday. You know the one. All our troubles look as though they are here to stay."
I'm not sure I like that reference.
