Okay, Everyone. Roll call: Me - UCLA Oh, is it that time of year again? It hasn't even crossed my mind. So says JSD unconvincingly, a heartbroken Indiana Hoosiers' fan whose team was decimated by NCAA rules' violations by former coach Kelvin Sampscum. Sampscum also recruited several players more interested in refer and cocaine than Indiana Basketball. Those guys are all gone now! Good luck to those of you whose teams are in the "Big Dance." sayne, did Mike Love's nephew go pro last year or is he still a Bruin?

He's with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
"Kelvin Sampscum". That's funny. Not what he did, but the name.

I have to think that North Carolina will win it all. The rather cool thing though is the apparent parity in college mens' hoops these days(well, the past few years). It must be because the great players all turn Pro after a year or two in college.
But then there was I.U. Bless them for trying but they were one of the most inexperienced Division 1 mens' college basketball teams in modern history. Oh, there have been schools whose teams perished in airplane/jet crashes with replacement teams that came close(such as the University of Evansville here in Indiana). At least I knew my Hoosiers were really student/athletes this year albeit they sucked.
Well, good luck to all here who have an interst in a March Madness team! Me, I am resigned to getting drunk and dream about next year.

go Orange! All Big East Final Four.
Rooting for the Cuse-but Louisville is the best team in the country, and Pitino will reach the Final Four with his third college team.

...and John after all these years I still have sour grapes from '87 and Keith Smart- so you get 22 years later the "oh yeah" I used to do with all of my Hoosier friends...
"At least I still got to watch my guys (Coleman, Douglas and Seikaly) play for many years in the NBA..."

We may be meeting on Saturday! May the best team win! (Probably yours, to be honest... ) We Bruin fans always hold our breath during the first round. We've had our fair share of being victims of upsets to lowly seeded teams, so it's no done deal that we'll even have a chance to play you guys.

"At least I still got to watch my guys (Coleman, Douglas and Seikaly) play for many years in the NBA..." Oh my goodness! You are the first Orangeman, Mike, I have ever communicated with! You guys had a great team as proved by those NBA guys you list. That I.U. team in 1987 was a hardworking group of street fighters. We weren't a total surprise as I believe that I.U. was a first seed(those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end) but we were a bunch of "no names." Only Dean Garrett had a lengthy NBA career but even that was freakish as his best pro years were much later after he left college. We did though beat an up-and-coming Duke team, a good LSU team and in our first game of the Final Four beat a very good UNLV team that was picked by many to run the table. I truly believe that the 1987 I.U. squad willed itself to win the national championship because they wanted to shove that trophy up Bobby Knight's ass to prove his harsh words and treatment towards them for the past four years as wrong. That was just two years after the 84/85 "Season on the Brink' where Knight threw the chair(I was there) and really acted wilder than he ever had before. Syracuse-IU was a great national championship game although Brent Mussberger(sp?) drove me nuts throughout with his, "This is the 458th lead change of the game!" Damn, I am getting all misty-eyed and off topic and basketball hating Steve may move my post to a new Thread on "I.U. Glory Days!"

To this day I still don't know why Syracuse didn't call time-out with 5 seconds left. Now the NCAA automatically stops the clock after a basket in the last minute.

I'll say congrats to both teams. THAT's what makes March Madness so great. Villanova, now, you choose the end of a close game to miss the one free throw that makes it possible for the other team to tie and you throw a long in bound pass that sets up the tie score. Are you trying to show everyone you can still win when you lose focus?

2 maybe 3 Big East teams. My boys are gone.
NC-Oklahoma should be a good game with the 2 best players in the country.
