Didn't see 2 yet - will watch it with Big Plod Steve.
1 was kind of Anthology-lite with a mild bias towards George. It was even weird seeing outtakes from the Anthology interviews, although I'm glad we did. Nice to see some home movies, and catch one or two unfamiliar stories (I hadn't heard the one about John, the beer, and the piano player at the Harrison brother wedding before). I also thought I caught some remixing on some of the music.
Dunno where Scorsese was, it could have been any old hack putting it together.

Did anyone else have problems like me in that they found the interview voices were quite low in volume and the music clips were quite loud in volume so you had to be forever adjusting the overall volume on the remote control. I don't know why they do it. If you watching with someone who is hard of hearing you're likely to wake the whole street up when the music blasts through.
Did anyone else find the comment by George a little strange when he talked about death and the only reason he could see for sticking around was to be a father to his son. What about being a husband to his wife as well??

What about being a husband to his wife as well?? Actually, I did notice that too. It has to be said that George did seem to have, and to hold onto, the most traditional-Liverpool-macho male attitudes towards women/marriage of all the Beatles. I think Linda's independence (not to mention moneyed-family) straightened out Paul, and obviously Yoko challenged John to the extreme. Ringo, probably the same as Paul, with an American star wife. George didn't seem very influenced by strong women -- not to say that Olivia wasn't strong (she is, clearly), but I don't know if George made an effort to change his trad. beliefs.

I learned tonight that my wife was fascinated with Part 2 and she asked me if I had any books on George. Whoa, maybe this was a great documentary and I'm too much of a Beatles' geek to realize it. ;D What George book do I recommend to my wife? She's a Hari newbie. For the casual-fan newbie, I think the Rolling Stone commemorative book would be ideal. For the Beatle-nut like us, I can't say enough good things about Simon Leng's While My Guitar Gently Weeps: The Music of George Harrison. The Scorcese doc will be out on DVD very soon, right?? I very much agree on Leng's book. Did you review this book within this long Thread, panther? I seem to recall you writing quite a bit on this book but I can't find it after an admittedly quick search.

I put aside some money for it back in December but that money's long gone. If it comes out before May, I'll have to take out a loan.
I'm hoping for a Bluray disc with extras and a cd of rarities.

According to Amazon, this will finally be coming out on DVD in the USA on May 1, 2012. As Stella once remarked; "It's about %#$&ing time!"

Don't forget to have your finger on the volume knob for when the music segments kick in.

I'm not all that excited. I'll get it, but I wish they would have shortened the Beatles segment and lengthened the George stuff.

I ordered it a couple of days ago. Now the only option is to be notified when it is available.

I said it last Fall, I'll say it again. I am terribly disappointed that there wasn't a stand-alone c.d. release of unreleased George music to accompany the film.
I think of the wonderful Bob Dylan double disc album that accompanied the Martin Scorsese film on Dylan and I just stew over what could have been for Hari.
I also thought the film was not well organized although there is plenty to keep a fan engaged throughout. The Beatles part is the weakest, an Anthology-lite.

Thanks to youtube and some on-line software...I have the entire CD. But truth be told- I would gladly fork over the money for a proper CD- it is THAT good. But- still it leaves dozens of demos, live songs and studio songs still in the can including John Barrett 1970 studio songs Soundboard tapes from 74 live (film too?) numerous demos including Kinfauns Circles and Sour Milk Sea UK Concert in 1991(video too?) Last few years about 7 or 8 unreleased studio songs plus a dozen or so from 1971-1992.

I finally got to see this. It was a father's day gift. My biggest observation? Olivia is my favorite of all Beatles wives/girlfriends. Such a strong woman. Very loving. Very realistic and not jaded. She obviously loves George, but is also very aware of his flaws. Her comments are not self serving and she simply gives George his due-no more and no less.
