. . . My favorite new clip in the film and a great Paul McCartney moment is when Paul and John walk out a door and are ambushed by a reporter who asks them if they are worried about the upcoming U.S. leg of the 1966 Tour because of John's Jesus quote and while John sounds a little defensive and perhaps unsure, Paul makes a great face like "F-you reporter" and very confidently says to the effect, "It will be fine." Paul is a bad-ass there! . . . He looked like he was a bit stoned to me. What he said, how he said it, the smile he had all add up to a nice little buzz to me. Look at it again with that in mind and you might just agree with me. It just seemed like Paul's typically PR optimism to me.

Magical Mystery Tour. The Beatles White album. Yellow Submarine. LET IT BE Abbey Road. Just wanted to fix this for you. I think you fixed it for yourself. If you can get the movie altered to support your want then it might be up for debate.

It may have been but Paul just looks at the guy and I could see in his facial expression: "See the people standing there Who disagree and never win And wonder why they don't get in my door." Go Paul!

So, am I the only one to have bought this DVD/BR? I didn't see the movie at a theatre, so the purchase was mandatory as far as I was concerned. I think it is a pretty nice looking package, overall.

Nope. I have it and saw it in the theatres as well. Three times. Sorry the Shea film we saw in the theatres as an extra treat is not included in the DVD package.

I received it in the mail last week and hadn't gotten around to watching it. I watched it yesterday. My cable, internet and phone went down so I was happy to have it to watch.
If my internet had been up, I would have made several comments about what I was watching. There were several things that merit attention but now, for the life of me, I can't remember what they were.
I would had preferred more complete shows, just letting them roll, instead a retelling of the Beatles' story, but overall, I thought this was very entertaining. Well done Ron!

I saw it in the theater and my wife ordered it for me online! Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but will try to log on when I do!

Finally got to watch this week at home the DVD Blu-Ray of "Eight Days A Week" that I bought and saw three times in the theatre this Fall. The 2nd disc with all the "extras" is incredible. Better than the Ron Howard film in my opinion. It is 100 minutes of; 1) The best documentary I have ever seen on what made the songs of Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison so special and unique from a analytical and historical point of view. Why they will stand up there alongside of Mozart in the 18th Century, and Schubert of the 19th Century as some of the best music ever composed in the 20th Century. Really, really insightful commentaries. A lot of great quotes from Paul & Ringo not seen in the Howard film and quotes from John and George I had never heard before. Why some of those quotes of John & George were not in Anthology is beyond me! They are invaluable! 2) Recent interviews with an ancient looking Allan Williams that are some of the most insightful he has ever given on his time with the band. Also Beryl Williams, Bill Harry, Freda Kelly, Peter Asher, Ronnie Spector, and others. 3) FINALLY, three girls (fans), who attended Beatles concerts in the USA including the Washington Concert and the first Ed Sullivan Show, are interviewed in detail as to their experiences. More from Sigourney Weaver, and Whoopie Goldberg on their memories of the Hollywood Bowl and Shea concerts. 4) Some of the best full versions of live Beatles performances of songs they ever gave, where all the mikes worked properly and the sound was balanced correctly, so you hear everyone vocally and instrumentally at their best and they just were at the peak of their abilities in a live medium.
That extra disc is just a gem and makes the Howard movie more of a secondary item in the package. It is a must for all real Beatlefans. It will take repeated viewings to take in all of the information it provides and the really great complete performance clips it provides.
If you haven't bought it, find a way. The extra disk here is as good as the Lewisohn book project is to Beatles History as far as I am concerned.
PS When I saw Eight Days A Week in the theatre in Asbury Park, NJ for the first time in September, I sat next to a lady who had attended the 1965 Shea Stadium Concert. After we saw the extra film at the end of the Howard movie of the Shea Concert, and the lights came up, she turned to me and said; "Finally! After 51 years I get to hear tonite how The Beatles really sounded that night in August 1965! At the actual concert, we could not hear anything from them out on the field, just the incessant screaming of more than 50,000 kids drowned out everything! Now I can say tonite, they sounded pretty damn good!"

It is observations that material like this exists, plus the fact that plenty of live recordings other than those on Hollywood Bowl have already been released on the Anthology series that makes me want a separate career spanning Beatles live album, or box.

I agree and I want as much video as possible to be included in a live album. I want to see them as well as hear them in live situations!
