Amazon has a hub in Hebron Kentucky. They are going to drop ship it in Lexington on Wednesday and I will get it on Thursday. Because I am not a Prime member, they are going to make me wait when I could get it much sooner. They don't do this on regular orders, just on new releases. Items they know you want sooner. Amazon UK allow us instant access to all the Pepper music tracks for download immediately after purchase. Is this different in the USA? Or are you waiting for specifically for the whole package?

I have the 2CD version and the box set is ordered. It must be several years since I listened to Sgt. Pepper all the way through. Anyway, last night I played the newly remixed album and thoroughly enjoyed it, even When I’m Sixty-Four.

My box set changed status at about 4:00 PM yesterday. It changed to "Shipping today", the same as it says now. To recap; I had no idea how long it took to get a shipment ready to ship and I apparently do not know what "today" means.
I was listening to the original album to pass the time. I'd forgotten how Paul's vocals on the title track's verses are panned to the right and the chorus is on the left. "It's wonderful to be here, It's certainly a thrill...", slowly pans to the center, just in time for Paul to return on the right for the second verse.
Kind of cool really. Although Paul's vocal sounds too low.
Yeah, yeah, I know the Beatles wanted it to sound like the mono, with absolutely no separation at all.

I thought I'd read here somewhere that the box set included the version of She's Leaving Home with the extra few violin/cello notes. I don't see where that's mentioned here.
It occurred to me that Paul had Mike Leander do the string arrangement because Martin was unavailable. I'm wondering if Martin may had snipped it out to assert himself into the arrangement; to put his mark on it. It might had been why he sped the track up as well; if it dragged in his estimation.

So, did anyone else use the download only card for 'Carnival Of Light'? 😉 You mixer you, OldFred!! You know I was outraged at the great songs available by download only for the Flowers In The Dirt Box

Gang, even though my Pepper Box came at 11:58 a.m. Friday and even though I bought Friday afternoon the Double CD Pepper so I don't always have to fumble through the Box to get to the 2017 Stereo Remix Disc, I haven't opened or played either!!!! I was very busy at work all Friday afternoon, met friends Friday night and stayed out too late, Saturday afternoon saw my stepson visit and we went to friends on a lake for another fun evening and we got back too late to play it and today I have been invited this evening to a Memorial Day Weekend(USA) cook-out so who knows if I'll get to it! Man, I am dying to hear it but it must be under the right circumstances and preferably in the evening! I do not want to be anti-social which defeats the whole point of the Pepper message but damn-it, I need some quality stereo time alone!

Thanks! The message link did it. I think I would have had to sign up for an account with the link posted here. That was very interesting. A good excitement builder for the album. It sounded like Yoko knew the Beatles were part of the new happening scene before she met John. It sort of wandered off of the Beatles at the end but came back to them. I guess a documentary called How Sgt Pepper Changed the World would talk a little about other albums. Thanks again for the link.

I finally got to play Disc 1 and Disc 2 last night and scan the Book.
I love the Stereo Remix 2017! It is everything some members here have enthusiastically described!
"Kite" is too loud coming off "She's Leaving Home" but one doesn't notice it once we get into the song proper.
Giles Martin and staff did a very nice job.
Disc 2 was quite enjoyable although I prefer the songs with vocals.
The Book is nice but I don't like the 1966/1967 historical references placed in circles on four pages I believe. I am having trouble reading the historical references in yellow and maybe light green ink! Is my book defective or are others having problems reading the text in many of those circles?
And I have not read all of the Giles interviews, watched all of the videos of him interviewed or read the entire book, why is "Strawberry Fields Forever" a 2015 Remix and all others are 2017? Is it simply that Giles started that one early?

Strange that "Penny Lane" has a 2017 Remix so that must be different from the Remix on the recently re-issued 1?

I used standard shipping as well. This morning, I got notification that mine's coming on Tuesday, the 30th. BTW, I'm listening in this order - Disc 4, Disc 2, Disc 3, then Disc1. Because I am not a Prime member, they are going to make me wait when I could get it much sooner. They don't do this on regular orders, just on new releases. Items they know you want sooner. Trying to get you to sign up for Prime status that way....

I asked this question back when all the UK and US mono's and stereo's and singles were remastered and such.
In regards to Pepper, are we done? Is Pepper as good as it will ever be? Is there now no more to do? If not, what's left? Same goes for all the other records that, hopefully, get the same treatment. Seems we keep on getting "new" stuff that has some improvement. Not counting outtakes and other versions, are we nearing the end of new releases of old albums?

Not counting outtakes and other versions, are we nearing the end of new releases of old albums? I somehow doubt it whilst there is still an audience for the music and our technology keeps moving forward. I will expand on that by taking you back to 1987.....It was 30 years ago today, Sgt Pepper vinyl all I had to play..... CD technology was a mere 4 or 5 years old back then. I was still in the bloom of youth and thought the Pepper release back then was probably as good as it ever could get. The sound was so clear. Just over a decade later we had mp3 and then i-tunes. Perhaps a step back sonically but a massive change in the way mass market music would be consumed in the future. A decade after that came the invention of a computer technology that could isolate and separate individual instruments from a finished track fairly well. Something previously impossible without the original master tracks. Then in 2009 we got the remastered CD versions of the Beatles. They were even clearer with the technical imbalances of sound ironed out of the mix as well. In 2017 we have the current incarnation of Pepper. Better balanced, with a modern sound to it. So who can guess the future? Maybe new technology will expand things even further? For enthusiasts they could release the raw audio to allow personal remixes and remasters today if they wanted. Perhaps one day we'll be able to experience a holographic, surround sound version of Pepper like you've never experienced before. Complete with 3D holographically generated Beatles playing in your living room? So I wouldn't count on the ability of the scientists and marketing men to run out of ideas. It's hard to peek a decade into the future these days so don't count on this being the last sniff of Pepper!

But it is still basically the same mix. They Beatles' music is so layered, you could probably get several vastly different mixes on most of the tracks. I always thought that at some point, you'd get the session tapes, the unmixed eight tracks, or in Sgt Pepper's case, seven tracks, that you could mix yourself. Although, I don't think today's generation of music would be that interesting to remix, so there probably would not be the market for it now. (FYI - stavros' comment was not there when I posted mine. We are sort of hitting some of the same points.)

I meant to say something about getting my box in the mail today. There it was, an enormous box by my front door. The box also had my two disc Sgt Pepper set and Bad Company's two disc Running With the Pact set, but still, amazon used a way too big box.
That said, the actual Sgt Pepper box set is much bigger than I thought it'd be. I thought it would be about the same size as the Magical Mystery Tour Blu-ray box set. I imagined them both together on my book shelf.
The set is bigger than an album. It has a slipcase over an inner box that looks like a studio tape box. When I opened this, I thought I had got the wrong release. What looks like an LP of Sgt Pepper sits on the top. It was sealed on separate plastic so I set it aside, hoping it was just an extra I didn't know I was getting and the CDs were still inside. You get the posters and then the book. Maybe the CDs are in the back of the book.
I got to the end of the book after looking at all the pictures. Still no CDs. I'm getting worried. Turns out the LP was not an LP and the discs were inside it.
I'm leaving one surprise unsaid and overall, this is one impressive looking set.
Now, I'll plug in the discs while I read the book.

Soon will come hollograms so good that it will look like the band is onstage playing for you their entire catalogue. Not sure I will see that technology so refined in my lifetime, but it is coming. It will feel like they are right there in front of you in their prime! Playing in your living room. My guess is in less than 25 years....

There has only been one body scan of the Beatles and it was just Paul, and only a few years back. It would have to be look-a-likes for the base, augmented with 1 dimensional facial grafting from the real Beatles.

What's the barely audible vocal at the end of the Fixing a Hole fade-out? Sounds like "Baby, here I come" at 2:34 -...? I never heard that before.

I am hoping they add it to the LOVE show in Vegas. They could put the band onstage next to the Cirque performers so it looks like they are right there as part of the act. How cool would that be!!!!! Put the technology into your home so it looks like you are getting a private performance of the band in your living room. That is the future.....

Some of these shots are with actors. The ones where there is movement in the body are really just actors. This is basically stop motion action and took a long time to create. Still, with today's computer technology, it probably took far less time than it did a few years ago.
This is long way from Clutch Cargo.

Years ago I thought of holograms and someone maybe inventing an app or program that would allow someone to remix their own records.
