The CGI from ROCKBAND could be WAY more realistic-like the newer GCI films of late. Add that "film" technology to the faces and it could be incredible if done right.

I am a cynical, jaded old Second Generation Beatles fan(so Firsties are really old!) but I love this Sgt. Pepper's Box and I love the 2017 Stereo Re-mix. I recall the horrible days of "Reel Music" and some other dodgy comps but this is to me a very significant release, perhaps the most stunning since Anthology.
I will continue enjoying the 2009 Stereo and Mono Remasters of Pepper but this new Remix is my new "go to!"
And the other material on Discs 2 & 3 really lets us get into the spirit of the Sgt. Pepper album, like a fly on the wall(there was another disappointment, that too short Disc 2 of LIB...N). It is kind of sad that it has taken Apple this long to get us fans such a worthy product. I am sorry every Beatles album wasn't given such deluxe treatment but maybe they will be now that Pepper has been given such treatment, perhaps Apple wanted to set Pepper out as special.

I am loving this new remixed Pepper. I think Giles has sensibly not strayed too far from the original blueprints. But he has given it a modern balanced stereo image that sounds as good on my ipod as it does on full blast through my gramophone speakers. However even if Pepper sales are better than predicted I am not sure it would work for all remaining Beatles albums. Magical Mystery Tour now becomes an awkward oddity with the decision to place Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields on Pepper's 2nd disc. Yellow Submarine has already had the songtrack remixes (which are great by the way). The White Album already sounds good but has much potential with the added bonus of the Esher demos. Let it Be has a lot of material, both audio and video and it is surely time to put it out in all it's remastered glory on it's 50th birthday. Abbey Road is pretty slick already and I am not sure how much remixing you could do to improve on the original. But it deserves a 50th anniversary makeover. So anyway.....I've been scouting around the net reading what other people have been saying. A lot of them are still saying Pepper is not the Beatles' best album. There are comments that Pepper is over-produced and gimmicky. It is to some extent. But it was the Beatles like we'd not really heard them before and that is to be critical with a 21st century ear forgetting how things were in 1967.I've read criticism that Pepper is too much Paul with twee ditties like "When I'm 64", "Lovely Rita". Equally that John was lacklustre and only "A Day in the Life" rises above mediocrity. Others went as far as to say that he bettered everything on Pepper with "I Am the Walrus" or "All You Need is Love" and the "Mystery Tour" album is actually better than Pepper. I think that both albums have a similar feel to them. Both being from the same era. "Mystery Tour" works as an album hence the decision by EMI to absorb it as part of the official CD releases. But it relies heavily on the inclusion of stand-alone singles and as we have been told "Strawberry Fields" and "Penny Lane" were meant to appear on Pepper.
Even George is criticised with a notion that "Eleanor Rigby" should have been held over from Revolver and replaced the dirge of "Within You Without You". I don't think it's George's best song by any means. Maybe another Pepper era song like "All Too Much" might have sweetened the album a little. Eleanor Rigby certainly would have fitted nicely but it was already slotted on Revolver and so that argument is just hypothetical.I am not sure a lot of these people even purchased the new remix. It's not actually a competition anyway. You can have your own fave Beatles album. You can change that opinion whenever you want. The secret of the Beatles popularity is that even if you place Sgt. Pepper way down your list it's still a quality Beatles album.

I want a Rubber Soul remix so badly. That and Revolver as I think the 2009 Remaster has some major flaws, notably John's "Side 1" songs which are sonically dead on the 2009 remaster.

After having to wait a little while I got my box set today. It's certainly an impressive presentation, but I would have preferred the dimensions of the box to have been a bit smaller. I's just too big IMO.

Funny, kind of out of the blue, a co-worker at work today came up to me with a copy of the two-disc Sgt Pepper release. He said he thought I might like to hear/copy it. He thought it seemed right up my alley.
I had to break it to him I had the 6 disc set and the 2 disc set as well.
I certainly appreciate the thought though.
