On his website, Paul McCartney reveals he is finishing of his new album at the beginning of the new year. On the question what he’d like to achieve in 2018, McCartney answered: I’ll probably be putting out a new album. So, I’d like that to be something I really love and then hopefully the fans will love it too! We’re putting the finishing touches to it now and at the beginning of next year. So, I would like to achieve making that a really great album. Fingers crossed! That’s not what it’s called, but fingers crossed! [Pauses] It could be… it COULD be the new album title!”McCartney’s new album is produced by Greg Kurstin, who said that he was impressed by Paul’s new material: All I can say is that when he brings songs to the studio, it blows my mind that he’s still coming up with the most amazing songs. The new album was actually thought to be released this year, but last October McCartney stated that he was still working on it and that he had about three quarters of the material. macca-news.blogspot.com.au/2017/12/mccartneys-new-years-whish-really-great-new-album.html

Awesome! I cannot wait! I just hope that it is better than New which never captured my heart like every other McCartney Solo album of original songs have! It was okay but sounded too calculated and there was no stand-out song to me. I also didn't like Paul using four or five producers, no consistency.
Don't look at me!

It's been a long wait between drinks, so I want this album as soon as possible. I'm thinking it could come out in mid-year, but if it were March that would be great. Will this be his last studio album of new material? He will be 76 in June, after all. I suppose it's possible that he might have accumulated enough material for a follow up in a year or two, but that is just conjecture. I loved New, by the way. If the next set is as good as that then I will be happy.

Chuck Berry was 88 when he finished his last album. A great album too.
Unless Paul has a stroke or something, he will record until he dies, which could be another 20 or 30 years. Hopefully it will sell well enough that it will all be released.

We need to plan now, as fans, how we will get Paul's new album to #1 on the BILLBOARD 200!
Everyone but Paul is getting #1 albums and we must correct that as fans!
A #1 is everything, an album is a loser if it does not hit the pole position!

Are you as impatient as I am for the arrival of this new studio album? March is almost gone and still no sign of it. Now people on the net are suggesting August/September. I'm not sure why they discount June/July. I would have thought the northern summer would be a good time to release an album. For me what has made this extended waiting worse is the fact that there has been no ambient/classical/live album release since New came out in 2013. Come to think of it there was that video game soundtrack download, but that wasn't much.

When and where was this performed?
Too bad those hags felt the need to shout Paul down while he tried to talk before the song about the "new album" and then regale us with their really bad dancing!
I will need to hear a studio version of it to know if I like it or not. It sounded okay here but it was a homemade recording.

John, the new song was performed yesterday June 9, 2018 at The Philharmonic Pub in Liverpool. It is not known whether this new song will be included on any new album. Paul was in Liverpool taping for James Corden's Carpool Karaoke.

It really annoys me when Beatles fans try to catch the boys' attention by shouting them down in concert. When I saw the Ringo show filmed for Sound Stage, Ringo was likewise annoyed as he was trying to introduce a song and some woman was yelling wanting him to sign something and Ringo basically scolded her and said, "Okay let's stop this show that is being filmed so you alone can have your crap signed!" That was pretty close to how Ringo said it but we applauded, the woman was so damn obnoxious. Same with those Liverpool hags in the video above. Scream over Paul while he is trying to talk with perhaps info on a new album!

I agree that it's pretty rude to shout over someone especially in a small venue and an entertainer is trying to talk to an audience. That's why I said that I didn't know if the new song was going to be on the new album because I couldn't hear what Paul was saying. I have seen other artists get annoyed when audiences are talking and the artist is trying to talk to the audience or sing.

I wish PM would put an end to his game of little hints that he has indulged in over the past week or two and just announce the bloody thing!

Maybe he's doing (another) duet with Steve Martin - this time on King Tut.

Yeah, it's good that an announcement has finally been made. Thanks for the link. I have to say though, information is still lacking about the track list for the album and full details about the range of versions to be made available. You know, I can't even download the two "released" songs from the Australian iTunes or Amazon websites yet, even though it is Thursday afternoon here.

I now have both new songs and am enjoying them. The lyrics on I Don't Know are a bit clunky and Paul's voice is aged, but I like it all the same. Come On To Me is good too, IMO. It certainly rocks hard and is memorable. I'm happy with this double A-side single and think it bodes well for the forthcoming album.

First impressions after a few listens to both songs... Come On To Me: Pretty catchy. A bit naughty - not sure about an old guy singing naughty. I Don't Know: Yet another of his clunky, 12 year old lyrics, trite, embarrassing songs...

I like Come on to Me, but it does have a sound worm that reminds me of Peek a Boo by Siouxsie and the Banshees. Not saying it's a rip-off or plagiarism or anything close to that. Just that the backing track and the meter of the song allows me to sing Peek a Boo at the same time. Try it and tell if you hear it.
Also, isn't the video of Come on to Me kind of an homage of, a nod to, or perhaps ripoff of Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues?
