As an Indianapolis Colts fan, I am very disappointed in this news! Paul, the Patriots are evil! Jim Irsay who owns the Colts is a HUGE Beatles fan and owns a bunch of their old guitars and even one of Ringo's original Ludwig drum kits from 1963/1964!

I have come to really like this song after first disliking it, thinking Paul was being a dirty old man(admittedly this was before I heard the even more guilty "Fuh You"). My only complaint is I still dislike the part where Paul croaks, "Yes I will, yes I will, yes I will now!" twice!! The song should have stopped right before that as the Jimmy Fallon crowd thought as they applauded there thinking the song was over only for Paul to go into that "Yes I will" bit.

I liked the song from first hearing, though I take your point about the spoken bit. I would have preferred it wasn't there, but I can live with it. It only lasts a few seconds and the fact that I love the do do do, do do do do and horn sections makes up for it.

I know this isn't a sports thread, regardless, I don't like the Patriots either. At least they lost the Super Bowl this year.

"Harrison played the ukulele in the studio for the song, and asked to appear as the ukulele player seen only from behind at the very end of the video. Pytka resisted this, as he felt it would be wrong for any contemporary members of the Beatles to appear on screen. Pytka later stated that it was "heartbreaking" that Harrison had not played the role, particularly after Harrison's death in 2001 and upon discovering that the ukulele was not a sample of an old song as Pytka had assumed."

Just got this for Xmas. Listened to it all the way through skipping "Fuh You" (so as not to ruin the experience). I like it better hearing it as a whole than I have listening to individual tracks. "I Don't Know" and "Hand In Hand" are my favorites. I also love the opening part of the last song, though the last two parts don't come close to matching the excitement of the opening. I like "Come On To Me" much better in the context of the full album. I suppose with that in mind I'll try to not skip "Fuh You" the next time, though I suspect it will become the "Bip Bop" or "How Do You Sleep?" of this album: one I skip every time.

Paul has just released another song from the Egypt Station sessions. It's called Get Enough and is available from iTunes and Amazon. It's also on YouTube. It might have been released as a trailer for an upcoming deluxe version of the album. I'm not sure though whether this is meant to be regarded as a bonus track, or a single. If the former, then so be it. If the latter, then I think it is a mistake. While it sounds a reasonably good song to me, the vocals are just not good enough. Paul should have passed this one on for someone else to sing, IMO.

I don't care if he's using it as an effect, rather that to fix out-of-tune singing, I hate auto-tune. Since he doesn't need it (which I'm glad he doesn't), then it's just a gimmick. A hackneyed one, at that. Glad it's not on the album.

From the wiki on Cher's Believe, released 20 years ago: Auto-Tune Cher's voice is altered by a pitch correction speed that is "set too fast for the audio that it is processing."[4] Producer Mark Taylor added the effect to Cher's vocal simply as a kind of mischievous experiment. In interviews at the time, he claimed to be testing out his recently purchased DigiTech Talker.[4] It later emerged that the effect was not created by a vocoder, but by using extreme (and then-unheard-of) settings on Antares Auto-Tune.[4] Taylor said about the effect that "this was the most nerve-wracking part of the project, because I wasn't sure what Cher would say when she heard what I'd done to her voice", but that when she heard it she said, "It sounds great."[4] When her record company requested that the effect be removed, she responded, "Over my dead body!"[6] After the success of the song, use of Auto-Tune became very popular and many other artists imitated this technique, and it would eventually become known as the "Cher effect".[7] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Believe_(Cher_song)

This song has caused a major furor on the Hoffman Music Board which is amazing as that Board is generally very supportive of Macca to the point of not being objective and Paul could release an album of him farting and they would love it! This song has caused a Civil War there! I don't like it as recorded and sung but I do think I would have liked to have heard this with Paul's voice as recently as 2005 when he released Chaos. I think the song itself is interesting. I am appalled here at the vocal with and without the effects!

I listened to the new song. I don’t think it’s that bad, could do without the auto tune, but the music is fine. And I agree, I would have preferred if Paul had recorded it in his natural voice. Don’t know how long ago or recent he wrote it. If he wrote it years earlier, would have liked if he had recorded it when his voice was in better shape.

I didn’t think this song was that bad either. Candy Leonard and I talked about it on a recent show and she was surprised I liked it. And I think especially the harmony at the end is nice. I know some people have really gotten down on it but it’s not that bad. I’ve heard worse from Paul.

Listening to EGYPT STATION more. I've decided "Hand In Hand" is the best song. A very sweet love song. I also love the tempo changes in "Despite Repeated Warnings". Classic McCartney!. The ending medley starts off great with "Hunt You Down", but fizzles to a pretty boring end. It's a pretty up and down album overall. Neither Paul's best or worst.

Sirius Satellite's The Spectrum(Station #28) has been regularly playing Paul's new "Get Enough." Man, I really wish Paul still had his wonderful voice as we fondly remember as this song might be okay then.
Tonight The Spectrum did something rare and played John Lennon's "Nobody Told Me" right after Paul's song and man, that was a breath of fresh air after Paul's auto-tune song!
Most peculiar mama......Roll!

I'll have to compare the two, John. I am warming up to Paul's "Get Enough" except maybe the autotune effects! But "Nobody Told Me" just sounded so good the other night! Steve, I presume the presence of "Get Enough" means that we are about to get the super duper, extra-deluxe Egypt Station at very enhanced prices? I must confess that with all the goodies we got this Fall starting with that awesome Imagine Box up to Red Rose Speedway, I have lost track of ES. I am not sure my budget can afford some high-end ES!
